There have been some interesting posts on another forum about what went wrong with Muse/Transtar. That was way before my time. From tof, it appears their MEC tried to stop the SLI process because they weren't satisfied with the direction. Then SWA pulled the rug out from under them? Can anyone hear shed any light on the subject? Thanks!

New laws have been enacted since then, and recent mergers point the way for the AT/SWA SLI. The recent DL/NWA SLI didnt look anything like the NWA/Republic SLI in the past. Don't fear the SWA pilots' tactics, they will have very little say in the final outcome.

M/B will not have an effect on this acquisition if the airlines are not operationally combined. If they are eventually combined then the process will go as per the law. No recent acquisition has had such a tremendous gap in career expectations of the two pilot groups. SWA pilots essentially make widebody pay and benefits while AirTran pilots make regional pay and benefits.

The respective merger teams and lawyers will try to dispute the case of the other side but in the end, ALPA's own posturing in previous mergers will come back to haunt them. ALPA drove a stake in the ground over widebodies decades ago and the premise behind that is pay rates and career earnings. Southwest Pilots will be treated like widebody pilots and AirTran pilots will be treated like regional jet pilots in arbitration. It may not be a pure staple but the ISL will accurately reflect what SWAPA pilots bring to the table and what AirTran pilots stand to gain over their careers.

Pride goeth before a fall, and brother, you are tumbling out of a skyscraper.

Some of you guys are setting yourselves up for a career of disappointment, if you believe the nonsense you're spouting.

What? That career expectations are about career EXPECTATIONS - not seats?

BTW, oil is over $100 a barrel today.

Gup

Roughneck,

Do some research on the "Super Premium Widebody" argument that the NWA pilots used in their recent SLI.

You'll find it interesting and may see some similarities to what you've posted. Ironically your (SWAPA) SLI lawyer argued against it.

He may have argued against it but the argument stood up. Look on the list and see where the NWA 747 pilots ended up compared to where Delta wanted them.

I don't have a preconceived notion of where we will all be on the list. I don't pretend to have all the answers, I just jump in here when the b.s. piles up too deep.

Oil? You betcha I watch it . . . . Gold, Oil, and some other commodities are a big chunk of my "self-managed hedge fund".

You must have some idea since you constantly remind us to bend over.
