AWA will not be hiring any time soon. We just recalled 75 pilots (104 still on furlough). Chief Pilot said that these were the only recalls expected for 2002. I don't think there is much of a future here. With the loan guarantees requiring AWA to "control labor costs" I doubt we will see any improvment in our pay and work rules (the worst of the majors) any time soon. Even Airtran has a better contract than AWA. We currently have more than 20 pilots who have gone to or are awaiting class dates at jetBlue and Airtran (with more to follow i'm sure). I myself (46 years old and over 5 years at AWA) am looking at other options. I will be happy to answer any other questions you have about AWA. Good luck.
