I have heard from two different people of an operation starting up in Alabama, Birmingham I think, using F100 jets. Anybody heard this? Where can I find some information. I have a couple thousand hours on the F100 and loved it. Thanks
Airline Ops, or Corporate? I have heard that RSA is wanting U.S. Airways to have more of a presence in the in the Southeast and an RJ crewbase in Birmingham, Montgomery, or Huntsville isn't totally out of the question. I don't think that we would be bringing back any of the f100's for that though. I hear parts are too hard to gind, and the new RJ's are more fuel efficient.
I'm a old Yellow tailed Midway F-100 driver, I think that there is a upstart using the fokker coming to AL. A few of the other Midway guys are getting it together. Parts were a problem when AA and USAir were operating them, but no Fokker Leasing will almost give them away. Hands down the best bird I have ever flown other than the J3, slightly faster than the cub too.
Cub,
Do you have any information on how to get in? I flew the F100 for US Airways for 3 years before getting furloughed. I know US Airways is not bringing them back. Too much to maintain and operate. Thanks for the info.
A South Florida startup called Tourjets had job listings for F-100 staff several months back. The company seems to be struggling to get airborne and originally planned to be an MD80/90 operation. Don't know what the latest plan is now.
The one I am talking about is not TourJets. I have already applied there. This one is supposed to be out of Alabama. Why, I dont know but I have heard it from a couple of Captains at US Airways.
As I understand both the Huntsville AL and Ft. Lauderdale FL operations are from Ex-Mdway guys. I have lost contact with them so I don't have any ifo for you. Sorry.
