Kalitta is what you make it. Schedules are tough on your private life. Lot's of politics and BS to put up with. Poor scheduling and a luandry list of other items to be unhappy about. BUT, the paycheck is always on time. The pilot group is a good bunch to work with(minus the 5% like at every other airline) and flying the whale is a kick in the pants. For me, glass is half full right now. When it ceases to be I'll pull the chute and hopefully land somewhere that it is. Hope that helps.

Six year base is about $85k, probably closer to 100 with some of the incentive pay. The management crew relationship is poor and the contract has been expired for 4 years now which is of course a sore point. We used to be a decent paying non-sked, however each year brings us closer to the bottom of the pile. There have been some recent positive changes- the new cp is a crew member and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone with something bad to say about him. Most guys coming of the regionals seem to be reasonably happy. The duty days are long and flying at night across multiple time zones leaves you dragging ass most of the time.

There's a major reason why things aren't improving there.

For some reason exTWA wants to pick a fight. I have worked for a few different companies in this business, they all have there problems, KA is no different. Im sure every pilot whos been around the patch a few times already knows this.

No matter what airline you work for, you are going to work the better part of half a month give or take. I get to live where I want, and Im employed.

If you come to KA, you will get some good experience, see interesting parts of the world, and not so interesting parts. Im not saying its Utopia, but the paycheck comes, and its a fairly easy job, other than fighting the time zones. It is an excellent place to gain some great experience that you can take with you when you leave.

Who is the new CP? I might know him and be able to get a job!!

Do?

Are we still banned from getting hired there? Was it because of politics, or because of the last two brilliant individuals you hired from us are screw ups?

You will only know if you apply. Inside reco's still cary a lot of weight. But why would anyone want to leave USA Jet?
