Just wondering if any ferry pilots are out in the forum? Got a few questions. Do you work for a company or do you free lance and pick up jobs here and there? How do you feel about going across the atlantic? Is it scary? Do you worry about emergencys when your 4 hours from the nearest land? How is the maintence of the aircraft you fly?

Thanks

Rally,

Delivering aircraft can be a fun exciting, boring and often terrifying way to build time or make a living. I did it for about two years. Light twins and singles. I met a few brokers and worked almost exclusively for them. The more I worked the more people I met the more business I got. As far as the aircraft some were good some were shall I say questionable. Buy a good gps, radio, and charts. IFR enroute for the US and an updated database for the gps will do. The Atlantic is like your rich friends mom's living room. It is big and cold and if you touch anything in it your dead. I.E. if you touch the water. I did five crossings and each made my balls shivel up to the size of marbles. If you do it do alot of research. You will get some great experience and you might actually make a little money, just use common sense when accepting an aircraft.

I just did my first free lance ferry the other day. A buddy called me up and said "hey wanna make a couple of extra bucks!" and we went out and moved an MD83 from DFW to MIA. It was pretty easy.

Hey Bluto,

all the people in that organization you posted a link to are going to vote for Kerry, just like you. Hmmm? How did you know that website anyway?
