Flew for a person who owned a small corporate jet before I came to the airlines. Best job I ever had. Each is different though. I was treated very well by the owner and remain friends.

Fairly normal to be typed off the bat in a corporate setting. Insurance usually requires both pilots be typed. Worst case (after the type) is that the job falls through and you take the Gulfstream type elsewhere.

Do what works for you. You most likely won't rack up the PIC time quickly, I'm getting between 250 & 350 hours/year and we only have 2 pilots. It's hard to build time doing 480kts.

Anyway, the pay sounds good, and maybe you can pick up some contract flying on the side to keep you from getting bored. It's all about the QOL, and with the right company, life can be really good.

Hey OPEC, was that you out selling pinestraw on I-65 the other day?

All the advice here is good-but if you decide to take the job: A type in a Gulfstream is GOLD. If you can get a few hundred hours and your laid off, you can do contract work worldwide. You will always be busy and the money is great. Make as many contacts as poss while you are with these guys. I know people that do this and at $800.00- $1000.00 a day, they dont have to work much. The person who brought up the point: Where do you want to be later in your carreer? A captain at Fed-ex or a captain at a fortune 500 flight dept. That is the question to ask yourself. Both would be about same money and quality of life. Myself, I would take the type, you will be in a small minority of qualified people, always in demand.
