Now that the contract is done and DL is working on the final summer schedule can we hope to see some 900's ever come our way? Or are we always doomed with our current owner always getting the growth. I guess Jerry really does take care of "his" kids first.

I've been told by some 'higher ups' that there are none available to get for 18-24 mos. Take it FWIW.
Don't forget that BH in his initial Q & A said we are not getting any additional aircraft, you know.....we need to work on our operation. (Isn't our operation really Delta's operation? You know, scheduling, facilites, ticketing, baggage, fuel catering, etc...All comes from Delta! What exactly should we work on?)

Anyway, looks like we're the odd man out for now on 900's.

Between Comair, Pinnacle, Free-dum, and Skywest how many potential 900's could ASA fly for DL anyway? IIRC there is a cap just like the 700 flying right?

200 total 700s and 900s. I believe for every one new aircraft mainline gets DCI may add 3 900s.

You can bet that if ASA gets any 900s they will be a replacement for 200s, so what's the point? Let the bottom feeders fly it for less than us.

Well let's hope we could pick up all those ex-SAS Q400's they are dumping for our ATR replacements. There are 20 plus that they are off loading they gotta go somewhere!

Would be nice, but I realllly don't think that ASA will bid low enough to get them. We are not the bottom feeders...

We had 900s that were coming here..... they were diverted to Skywest......

Not to be a di@k, but wouldn't you rather fly a bigger plane at a major then a bigger plane at a regional? The bigger the planes at regionals, the less jobs at the majors.

......sure if I can keep my 100K+ pay, 18 days off, and choice of schedules..... Can I do that? Oh and how about furlough protection too.....

What a loser. Hey look mom, a regional lifer!

Easy for you to say. We'll see what happens to you if another serious incident like 9/11 occurs. It's pretty hard to rake that sort of pay and QOL cut just to fly a MD80.

I agree. Every regional with a CRJ 900 can be considered a "BOTTOM FEEDER" from the majors.

Go ask the pilots on the Flight Info "Majors" thread what they think about you or your airline flying those bigger jets for less pay..

Watch what you say, I have nothing but respect for the guys who have made the choice to stay at the regionals and try and make them better. Everyones initial goal is to get to the majors but when something like september 11th happens and all of a sudden there are massive furloughs and airlines dont hire for almost 10 years, you build up a good schedule and qol, you also may have a family and if you are over the age of 40, you may never get that good seniority back. I see no problem in staying if you want. A lot of people, especially the younger punks getting hired today, seem to forget that 9/11 even happened and they think they are going to be 747 captains in 10 years. Well lets hope nothing happens again becuase if it does, get real used to that regional fo seat.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no desire to see bigger RJs at the regionals. But honestly I don't care what the major pilots think about that, because they allowed it to happen when they voted in their contract. Concessionary or not (DAL contract 2000 had nothing concessionary about it but still opened the door wide to tons of RJs) the major pilots had a choice to make, and almost all didn't care about RJs at the time.

Delta will probably get an ATR replacement. I've heard of sightings of q400s in delta colors on the ramp at CAE. Haven't been there to see them, but I'm sure that delta has something in mind. We probably will see 900s if Delta really does want to reduce the number of DCI carriers, but like Uncle Rico says, probably not until ASA's performace numbers increase.

Haha! Those are Freedom's old Dash8-200s there in CAE.

yeah, just after posting i saw that mesa had a mntc base there, and theyre parked next to some old ACA airplanes. either way, Delta probably will find a turboprop to replace some of their 50 seat flying, but it probably wont be an ASA airframe.

What's wrong with that? Flying a technically advanced aircraft for decent pay, and a good schedule? Hmmm, that sounds horrible.

Oh, and who cares what your family thinks? Don't you make life decisions based on what you decide, not them?
