Wondering if there are any Herk FE's on here who can help me out. I'm a twelve year F111/F16 Avionics puke who is looking for a change for my last 8 years. Currently an E6 guardsman looking at the possibilty of taking a leave of absense at my airline (Regional FO) after applying for an Air Guard C130 spot. Don't know jack about the realities of the job/training though. Can anybody clue me in without the recruiter's pitch.

Thanks in advance.

The Bombardier C130 is a sweet airplane! It will have brand new technology of geared engines. Pretty sweet!

In order to fly them, you have to go through Gulfstream Academy or Jet University to achieve your degree.

Oh, their are no need for FE on the C130. It's a more high tech/performace airplane than the sister C-130 the military makes.

Enjoy! Viva la resistance

I'm a loadmaster on the C-130. I THINK the training for FE is about 6 months of school (basic FE+C-130 FE) Then about another 3 months of orders when you get back to your unit. I'm out of Peterson AFB. I'm going in tomorrow, I'll get a solid answer for you.
