Vic, hang in there. It will pan out for you. This thing will end and the industry will be hurting for pilots again. All the vietnam guys are ridding it out so they can have a good retirement and then the industry will be hurting for bodies again. Just remeber that a SP pay check isn't all that bad. We are getting another pay raise.

SP's

Always the first in and last out. I always respected the SP's. Tried to get them some hot food and a little conversation when ever they were guarding our alert aircraft. It pisses me off when ever I saw news stories about terrorism and they left out the Kobar Towers. A lot of good guys bought it on that one. And some of them were SP's running into the building to evacuate it. Kind of like on 9/11. What you do is important, sorry a few are paying a higher price than the rest. Keep the faith.

As far as being a prof. pilot, you still have a shot. Seems alot of companies hire based on character/personallity over hours and resume once you meet the competitive minimums. This is especially true of the guard/reserve. So keep building your network of contacts.

Yeah, I can't help but feel bent right now cause it's not fair for the SP's that wanna be pilots. But you're absolutely right about character and perserverance..just gotta suck it up for now and drive on. there are always few people at the come through the gates of the base who really make up for all the ones that make us wanna quit our jobs + you sound like one of them.... Thank you sir!


Hey Bloud, I'm hanging in there. the wing king gave me his blessing. i'm taking six months to finish school, I also got hired at the aero club and hopeflly i can graduate this summer with an ATP. i'm also gonna shot-gun my UPT apps to every flying unit.
