Hello,

I've been receiving a lot of annoying popup ads lately. A lot more than usual. I was wondering if anyone know a website or a way I can get Anti-Popup software for free?

Look forward to your replies.

do a search on this site and you will find what you are looking for. myself i use the free google toolbar download...works well and since i use google for a search engine it isn't a bother to have it at the top of my page.

HERE is the link on this site.

I've been using Pop-up Stopper by Panicware, but recently switched to Yahoo Toolbar and like it better. I don't have to turn it off when there's java that I select, but it blocks 100% of unwanted PUs without a noise or a trace.

I have found something far more effective than the Google toolbar: Ad Muncher. 30-day free trial, then a $25 registration covers you for the life of the system you install it on- no monthly/yearly renewal crap. If you're really cheap, there are cracks for it floating around on the 'net, too...

You Already Have the Software!

Hey Guys (and gals),

Actually, if you're running XP on your computers, you already have all you need. it's called a firewall, and it's easy to turn on. No need for cumbersome software or anything kooky like that.

here's what you do:

-> Start
-> Control Panel
-> Network Connections

right click on whatever connection you're using and choose
"properties"

In there, choose the "advanced tab" at the top and click on the box that says "internet connection firewall"

I haven't had a freeking poppup ever since I enabled this.

Good luck!

Get Ad-Aware 6.0 from www.lavasoft.com to rid your computer of ad-bots. Not only will it help to protect your privacy, it will get rid of certain cookies and other ad-ware that causes pop-ups. It's free.

Ad-aware 6.0

I second DorkProp. The program works really well, and you don't have some silly extra toolbar. It's elliminated practically all of the pop ups, yet it still allows you to download and open pop-up links that you wouldn't otherwise be able to open with a a restricted firewall, or pop-up blocker.

It's also free!!!

Maybe just look at some of those pop-ups. For some reason I keep getting one that asks "Tired of annoying pop-up ads?" It appears to be a pop-up ad for a pop-up blocker. I'm still trying to figure that one out!:eek: :confused: :mad:

Hydroflyer-
That one is actually like a program that has downloaded itself into your computer. I had that one pop up 24/7 on me even when I didn't have explorer open! If you look under your program files, you'll find a bunch of bogus files.

Ad-aware man!!! Kill 'em all!

Adaware is great, used it for quite sometime. That is until I found Spybot

It too is free...

Also have to agree with bobby and skyking. Switched from IE to mozilla 6months ago... wishing I had done it much sooner. Night and day improvement over IE.

Free from analogx.com, as seen on TechTV's 'The Screensavers," is POW! Works great! It has standard popups, and you train it for future events. Other great free stuff there, too.
