Anyone use ANR's like the Telex in a Lear without an intercom? I've been debating if I want to get a pair, but I'm worried that it will hinder my ability to hear the captain.

Yea,

I used the telex anr-500's for about 3 years.... Worked quite well. If you flip the stereo / mono switch to stereo, the radio only comes out the side with the mic but the noise cancelling still works in both sides. When I had a hard time understanding atc (south america) I would switch to mono and listen with both sides. Acually found I could hear the other pilot better when I was wearing the headsets as the noise cancelling got rid of some of the engine noise.
I will say, telex was great to deal with. I smashed one set and they REPLACED them free under warranty ... I was VERY clear that I broke them but they insisted. Later had problems with a set out of warranty and they replaced them for a flat $50 fee ..... I think it is up to $100 now though.

It certainly will and because it will, it's probably not a good idea. I used to fly a 35 that had an intercom. When it went down for a 12 year we leased a 36 that didn't have one. I bought a couple of "David Clark type clone" headsets that had a built in wireless intercom. They worked well.

I'm using the Bose X in a Falcon. Below 10K I'm using only the right earpiece for ATC, the left is off to hear the Captain ok. Above that I can hear the Cap' actually better with the ANR over both ears than without, let alone ATC.

I tried the Sennheiser KA-45 and they were awesome in the ANR while at the same time hear the Captain without Intercom.
