Last Friday, I got a phone call from the DO of Wiggins aviation. Very nice and pleasant, offering me a spot as a floater in norther NY and/or western PA in a Caravan. I said, I needed to consider this situation. I just wondered if any body know anything about this outfit? I know, van's and ice DON'T go together. Thanks All!

We just had a guy that lives in PA become a FO at USA Jet on the Falcon 20. If your flight times are accurate I would keep looking unless you need work right this instant. It's nothing against the Van or Wiggins but Single Engine, Single Pilot, Turbine time isn't going to help your resume much.

Thanks for the reply Broke. The thought of the combination of a Van, Ice, and the North East gives me a Pepto Bismol moment. What I really wanted to know is what you answered. Turbine van time would not be a great help to me at this point. My total is legit with 1047 hours of multi under it. I am finding alot of cheapskate operators want 500 hours of turbine before you apply and don't want to pay for your ATP check ride. So what if I would be on high mins. for 100 hours. When I am one with the aircraft, I can keep it flying.
On an important but unrelated note, I was hoping to get closer to Northern Aroostook County Maine. I was interested in a little French redhead who lives up there. Unfortunately, I had not called her in over 2 years and when I did she told me "she was BREAST feeding her new baby." I wish it was but I am not the father. Crazy V-tails, always causing mischef. The only hoe I get is a PA-31-350T!

Ice and vans is a little overblown.
While you have to be careful, and be a PILOT, it can and does work. How many Vans fly every night in the Northeast?
By and large, they stay out of the news for a reason.

You are right gig in a way. The press loves to put aircraft foul ups in the lead all the time. For me, right now, would single engine turbine be of any use? That is the $.64 cent question. Thanks for the help.

Get on job search boards, there are TONS of entry level jet jobs available that aren't airline, if that's your thing. Many FO spots just want to see ATP mins or 2000TT for seats in P.91 Hawkers/Citations/BeechJets.

I worked there, shoot me an email if you like. Overall the Caravan is a good job, you fly about 400 hours a year, Fedex owns the Caravans, Fedex loads the airplane, all you do is fly it. Older guys like it, fly frompoint A to B set there all day and fly back. If you get in the Beech99, you load the airplane, that is the UPS side. Good turbine time, 500 a year, maintenance on the the Caravan fantastic, on the 99, it's hard to get stuff fixed. Your hired as a Captain, last time I checked starting pay was 35k.

Thanks Metro and GL.
I have already waved off the March 17 class a few days ago. Yesterday, my 78 year old mother fell off a stool and wrenched her back. Fortunately, I was close. Unfortunately, it keeps me close to the Front Range of Colorado. I have to stay close because of just this kind of thing. My first son is on his own and my second son is defending our freedom in a submarine. He is following in his grandfather's foot steps and doing a fine job! U.S. Navy! I am more than happy to take a spot in the Denver Metro Area or COS or PUB. I am on some of the free boards and am so cheap I don't want to PAY for a membership. Avjobs.com is always e-mailing me to join. Thanks again!

T206....

Want to with me? You get Detroit and I get to go back to the Front Range of Colorado? It's Numero uno on my list of places I would like to move back to, buy a house, settle down, and all that jazz. I'm jealous. Sorry to hear about your mother.
