Yahtzee,

Man o man, you are a funny one. No wonder you don't work for an airline. I do work for Delta and I feel very lucky to have a job. I have only advocated getting our furloughs back and if you really knew my track record on this forum you would know that. I try to work through my union for change and try to help our furloughs by sponsoring some. I do a lot more away from this forum than you know. I do look at this forum often because I actually enjoy aviation and I am interested in other airlines and what is currently happening to them. I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to express my views often or that there was a limit on the responses. I do have a laptop and sometimes bring it on my 4 day trips, but sometimes I do not. I have many other hobbies, like working out, biking, and enjoying the Georgia weather (when it isn't raining). I have a wife and enjoy spending time with her. Do you need to know anything else about my personal life? No? Then lay off and if you really have something constructive to say about this industry then reply. I do not get personal and I keep my opinions to this industry alone.

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:   ;)

Let's just keep it movin' here. I can be VERY sarcastic, definitely more than my posts would show, that I would agree. But what started out as a rather nice post here by SWAGUY got bashed, in my opinion, by Gedde Lee (there I go again. Bad crayonblue bad!) for no other reason than to piss on a SWA pilots cornflakes. I don't judge any airline by the appearance, words, or tone of a single pilot. My good friend is a Delta Pilot and I think he and General Electric (STOP NOW!) are vastly different types of Delta Pilots. While I prefer the "good friend" type as my vision of a Delta Pilot, I don't believe he has the same loyalty and respect for Delta that General Lee has. It's great to see a pilot that loves his airline I know I sure do! Just the gentle warning from the SWA pilots, poolies and wannabes. You diss Southwest, you will be bitchslapped. And I am a really cocky man!!! And I sure do love myself and my company!! I am really full of myself. Nothing will ever go wrong for me, but I am NOT a god. Herb Kelleher IS!

Alright, I give up. I do enjoy my airline and you enjoy yours. Good. Herb is pretty good and maybe he will come to Delta after he retires from Southwest. Or, maybe not.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Yahtzee,

No big deal. I really do enjoy all aspects of aviation and want to know what is going on at all of the airlines. Sometimes I am too opinionated, and I often hear about it. But, I don't mind that.

Bye Bye--General Lee:cool:

I knew there was a reason why I never applied to Delta......just couldn't remember it until I read these posts.

Like to thank all you guys for helping me remember.......

:)

Flint,

If you can come up with the money to pay off our debt, then go for it.

Learav8r,

You were turned down, weren't you? Probably a good thing now, you might be furloughed. Yeah, I can see why you wouldn't want to fly heavy jets for good money. Yeah.

Uh no......Like I said in my post there is a reason why I NEVER applied. But somehow I don't think you wouldn't understand.

I am just watching you flame away at everyone that posts something on this subject. According to you, Delta is the best place out there and the funny thing is that to you it may be. But for me I am happy at where I am and wouldn't leave for anything.(pretty much the same thing that others have said here) Not that big of deal.

It doesn't matter if I get to fly the Heavy A/C or not (I did fly the DC-8 for a short time).......When in reality it all comes down to QOL and a stable income.

Not trying to flame but I am sure that there are Delta guys that were furloughed and wouldn't mind NOT flying the 76 or 75......just so that they can put some food on the table and not have to sweat the bill collector.....

put it to rest.....

You are right about the furloughs and I fight for them everyday. Lifestyle is important and I can understand that. I do not try to flame anybody, but just give my opinion. I do like my job, but there are probably better ones out there. I am also done with this one.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Keep the thread goin"

Didn't mean to sound stressed--but it sure sparked some interesting conversation!

See ya!

--WE DON’T HAVE, NOR PLAN TO GET, RJ’s! See how the creation of a “split fleet” (with lower pay scales, etc.), affects the “22 months” to upgrade at JB. JB’s founder mentioned in Aviation Leak that the 2-3 years a new JB hire spends in the RJ (at lower pay) will more than offset the training costs. Then that guy should move to the left seat of the Bus. But who is going to fly the left seat of the RJ? Read the handwriting on the wall, boys. Get organized—you’ll need it! Stay ahead of the game before the “efficiency expert” takes ya’ll for a ride.

I am curious to what you read and how it was worded. What is meant by the 22 months to upgrade? Right now it is running around 18 months or so. I started last January and upgrade went jr. to me in October of same year. I took it in Feb ofo this year then after the holidays. I don't think that is too unreasonable.

I think that the 2-3 years that the new hire spends in the EMB-190 includes his upgrade. He will probably fly 2 years as a captain in the 190. He will move from captain in the 190 to the bus as a captain. That is the savings he meant. That there would not be a lot of jumping between equipment. The first couple of 190 pilots on the property will probably see upgrades in under a half year or so... That will help to off set the "pay loss" from flying the "smaller" equipment.

We are not starting an express division. I don't view it any different than a company flying 757's and DC-9's. The obvious extra costs are indeed there. Training, maintenance etc, but it does not mean that we have to look at the situation as a "jetBlue lite". There is a difference in pay though. Just as in any other company there would be...

any whoo, my 3 cents.

to be "PC" you can add a "she" to any of my "he's" in the above spewing of steam... if you want.

......"and I am sure every airline has its ups and downs"

Hey....as long as the departures and arrivals are equal, we're doing it right. (smile).

Life's too short to bicker over this stuff guys. Be kind to your brothers.
