Well, another month gone and nothing accomplished. We are kidding ourselves if we think we will have acontract in the next year. Drop dead date of June, months and months of a recess and the NJA still wins. This sucks!

The picture for organized labor is not rosy. Mediation is the rule of the day. Talks and meeting between management and the NJ pilot's union will continue for several more YEARS under the current administation. Your management team knows this.

[Meet for 30 minutes. Oh well, we clearly can not agree to that without speaking with the CEO and Board directly. So we are off to lunch and a round of golf now. See ya in 60 days or so. Of course, that is if we can get this before the board by that time. Ya'll try and have fun while you sit for 14 hours in the FBO.] Your management team knows this line very well. Of course, they will never say it out loud. But you can bet your last dollar that each member of management attending any meeting with the Union is thinking exactly this as they walk out the conference room door.

You are wrong about talks lasting for several more years. That has already been played out and the deadline is just around the corner. The administration has nothing to do with a time frame on this one. The picture happens to be rosier than it has ever been for this particular group of organized labor. 14 hours sitting around an FBO is great for union meetings.

Well, at least you are optimistic. That is good. We will see what happens or should I say, you will see what happens. Do not be surprised if it still takes much longer than you think. Deadlines are meant to be extended. Hope it all works out.

I applaud anyones optimism I just don't have it anymore. It is true the June deadline is just around the corner but that means very little. More than likely we will be recessed and not released at which time the company wins.

Every administration will say that the company wants the contract to be completed and that is true but completed in a manner beneficial to the company only. NJA does not care about the pilot group and our collective futures and NJA can hold out much longer than we can.

The chances of this contract being completed in '05 are slim to none. Without incentive there is no "end game". We still continue to go to work each day and get the job done. We are not the "Wallmart" of the fractional industry so we have that going for us but we are the "Target store" so were not that far ahead.

The June date, IMHO, simply means that the company will no longer be forced to negotiate or be "prepared". After June NJA will legaly negotiate in rediculous fashion with little or no recourse while the pilot group continues to scream for change and real world wages.

The saga continue with no end in sight!

For the record I do hear Jimmi I just don't think others will.

I have a question regarding the potential strike in June:

What happens to the newhires if the strike were to take place? Since they are on probation, would they be fired? I don't understand how that would work. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

So is it safe to say the same thing would happen at NJA? I heard somwhere that the newbies would be fired, but then rehired once the contract was changed/strike terminated. Any truth to this?

There wont be a strike so dont worry about it. What you need to ask yourself is why are you coming here.

I dont have any more info than the next guy but the chances of being released are slim to none.

Fracster -

I'd suggest you contact your P2P Rep or a Steward if you want to know what's going on. My number is on the seniority list if you want to call me. No one posting here is going to say anything that will calm your fears but you may hear something on a phone call that will brighten your day.

Fracster- thanks for having me ask myself the question-seriously. May sound stupid, but never thought about it in such simple terms. I suppose the only positive (out of the many negatives) is that I am hoping the contract changes the pay-and perhaps other things I am unaware of.
I am not there yet & am not 100% sold on NJA.
Thanks for the info.

Remember this when you arrive. You will have NO grounds to whine ! You have been warned.

I know-I haven't interviewed yet or made up my mind. Is it possible to defer or do they need an answer for the next class once you are hired?

Thanks for the help.

Fracster, I'm the guy who posted on the NJA message board blasting the MEC earlier in the week. You know, the guy with the real sick avatar. Anyway, if there's someone out there that's a realist, it is me. Let me tell you, come June 23rd, the company is going to suffer with or without a Release.

The StrongUnion guys have made some pretty smart chess moves. Have you noticed that all the LOAs we're doing expire in June..hmm... Also, picketing and WSJ ads are going to be an incredibly effective weapon. Remember how angry BB got with a small article in the Columbous newspaper! With the addition of grounding airplanes left and right (yes, it can be done LEGALLY), the company is going to be crying. I, of all people, have been critical of the current MEC. However, I am confident that we WILL have a contract by July of 2005.

I'm not a betting man, but I'll happily bet on that.

An outsider.

Having friends in Frac-companys I know you guy's bust your nutz for the company. Just wishing ya luck in the near future. You deserve it.

Sla'inte,
daveman
