But at least I'll sleep better at night knowing that passengers are now "self-reporting" themselves.

I'm telling ya, give security screening to trained LEO's versed in security, the FBI, or some other agency that has some freaking professionals on board. Then profile the heck out of the traveling public.

This has GOT to be a better solution than what we have now.
