Nothing like the captain coming out of the cockpit to sort things out and then sort of getting his @ss kicked.

Airline passenger's violent rampage

GREIG CAMERON

AN AIRLINE passenger tried to force his way on to the flight deck of a busy plane before take-off yesterday.

A stewardess on the KLM flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam is believed to have been grabbed around the throat by an irate passenger.

Two men, thought to be from East Lothian, were on their way to Amsterdam to catch a connecting flight to Thailand and wrestled the incensed man to the ground before he could do any more harm.

They watched in horror as the man tried to force his way into the pilot’s cabin and eventually decided to overpower him before matters worsened.

It is thought the pilot of the plane was kicked when he came out of the cockpit to try to sort the situation out.

The flight was delayed for an hour. A man was arrested and is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court next week.

A spokeswoman for KLM said: "There was an incident on the plane this morning and the police were called."

A spokeswoman from the British Airports Authority (BAA) confirmed that there had been an altercation on the flight.

She said: "The duty manager at Edinburgh Airport was called to an incident on the 6am KLM flight to Amsterdam.

"Police were called and a man was arrested. The plane left an hour late at 7am."

A spokesman from Lothian and Borders Police said: "As a result of an incident on a KLM flight from Edinburgh, a man has been arrested and charged.

"He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday."

Last week, more than 30 Tesco staff were thrown off a flight at Glasgow before take-off after the captain ruled some were "drunk and disorderly". No arrests were made.

The airline had claimed the group was a "potential threat to the safety of other passengers".

First, see if the flight attendants can handle him....If not, send the F.O...If that still doesn't, work take matters into your own hands by getting on the intercom and offering free beer and a BBQ sandwich to anyone that will kick the guys a$$.

I'm surprised the Captain left the cockpit. The norm these days, at ASA anyway, is for pilots not to intervene, period
hmmmm...let us look at this situation with some common sense. If the pilot keeps the door closed and locked...then no matter what happens in the back, then the plane will not be hijacked. Makes sense to me.

If the captain wants to come back and get a kick in the nads, that's one thing, but once he opens that door, the game is over.

From my understanding of reading the article it seems as if the plane was on the ground at the gate. "The flight left an hour late at 7a.m."
