As a frac pilot, I've found that entering the U.S. is generally far worse in terms of fines for failing to cross every t and dot every i. The main problem seems to be a complete lack of standardization (imagine that) amongst local U.S. CBP offices as to which forms and procedures are required- that and a few bad apples. It sort of parallels the problem of FSDO interpretations.
That's why your a Firefly and not a Bird...with a comment like that. Regulations are in place for all who fly between the two countries. If you think that's bad try flying in and out of Africa, the middle east or South America without contacting customs.
