I was hoping that some out there that have had some of these situations might be able to comment.

I was selected as an alternate at a Guard unit. They had me take the Initial FC1 Physical and with the exception of an X-ray (no problems, the base just didn't have the equipment) it is complete and will be sent to SG/AETC.

I have continued to look at other units during the process. Some of the questions maybe some out there could answer are.

1. How do I find out that my Physical has been approved by the SG/AETC? Do they notify myself or do I find out from the base where I took the physical. Do I get any kind of documentation that has my physical results or do I request that from the Clinic that performed my physical (I asked for a copy of my form from the physical, but they did not make one for me).

2. The unit, maybe because it is Guard and I am an alternate, seems relaxed on when I can get the X-Ray done. I know a FC1 is the same across ANG/AFRES, but I have spoken with a Reserve unit that may have a position open for the March board. Can your package go before the AFRES selection board in March pending the approval of your FC1? I though it had to be approved and signed off by the SG before it could be submitted, but this unit was only giving a month between selection and having the package go to the March board. Anyone been in this position?

3. How long is an FC1 really good for? I know it is 3 years, but the back of the form says it is good for 36 months with an updated SF 93 within 12 months. What is an SF 93? I pretty sure this is just an updated medical history with no tests, but I wasn't sure.

Sorry about all the questions. I tried searching, but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any information.

1. I was told that my sponsor (i.e. recruiter or whomever sent you for the physical) would be notified and then I could find out from them.

2. I'm pretty sure that you cannot send a package to the AFRES selection board without an approved FC1. You need to get that X-Ray done and put together with your package ASAP, so that it can be sent to the AF Surgeon General's office. I believe that any incomplete physicals will be returned to the sender.

3. I was under the impression that it was only good for 1 year, but that may be what you are talking about. The SF 93 is the medical history form that you filled out and then went over with the flight doc. It shouldn't be that big of a deal to get it updated. As far as copies, I won't be able to get one until it is returned from Randolph as appoved. I'm still trying to find more information, but it seems a very busy time.

I hope I helped a little, if any of my information is wrong, feel free to let me know.
