Thanks to UPS, Astar and others, the definition of ice pellet has changed and most ice of that sort will be called sleet like the last 50 years. Thanks to some idiot at the FAA the tower wx observers were required to classify most frozen precip not classified as snow as ice pellets. Its fixed, nothing to see here, move along.

a bit of topic but i was in a cab in nyc last night. there was a commercial playing on the tv in the back, something along the lines of "an ice storm being the least of your problems when a security guard makes $20,000". it had a blue airplane in the background. anyone know what this is all about?

There is a union drive for the security workers at JFK, the company, cannot remember which, who employs these workers are non unionized and like the rest of us, they are underpaid. jetBlue uses this company as a contractor, but other than that, has no influence, so I guess, jetBlue is a drive by victim, well IMHO.
