If you're trying to decide where to live, why not just pick something in between. Arlington, Grand Prairie, or some of the usual DFW 'burbs like Keller, Grapevine.

I have considered and like Keller. The goal is NJA. That wouldn't be too bad of a once a week drive.

I get to see the traffic in Grapevine every year while at Simuflite. Doesn't look so good.

I've read and heard that Arlington in having lots of crime problems.

Again the goal is NJA. I just sent the resume last week. I don't know if I stand a chance or not. If not, I would like to live in a nice school district for the kid and not have too bad of a commute to work.

I don't expect anything from NJA for a least a year. My times are minimum but not real competitive. I just don't know if I stand a better chance on the east or west side of DFW to work for a couple of years.

Thanks.

Where is the bulk of 91/135 flying? DAL/ADS area or FTW/AFW area?

My recommendation to you my friend is this... Get a place nearby where you are going to work, if you have like a 30 minute or even an hour call out, then I would recommend live like 5 minutes from the airport. Here's why. I live about 15 minutes from my job with good traffic conditions. But when rush hour hits and not to mention bad weather comes into play. OMG! it took me over 30 minutes to get there the other day! So as soon as my apartment contract expires I'm moving within 5 minutes of the airport. This rule pretty much applies to any airport in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex area. Good luck and have fun!

I live in Flower Mound. It is a beautiful town that is directly north of DFW.
I work at Simuflite and NJA. I can get to ADS or DFW in about 30 minutes. You do have to plan for traffic no matter where you live. I grew up in Arlington. It was a great place to live at one time. Now I only go to Arlington when I am packing my nine and wearing my colors.....

For what it is worth, Keller is nice, but it is a farther drive to ADS and LUV.

Outstanding Schools.... I think that once you see the city, you would be sold... If you are in the area, I would be glad to give you the two cent tour...

I'm actually sitting in DAL right now. Early departure in the morning, again. I was planning on snooping around DAL today but the 0145 pacific wakeup this morning is leaving me a little low on motivation.

Thanks for the offer of the grand tour. I hadn't even considered Flower Mound, but I will now. My commute time is secondary to all the usuals. Safe neighborhood, good schools, etc.

I might PM you when we come up and start looking. I can use all the help I can get to get started looking. Thanks again.

DAS- go to www.heritagelife.com and click on guest area. Private waterpark, miles of trails, new shopping, eating, towncenter being built and keller schools in the development. We are 15 minutes directly north or Ft. Worth, a most beautiful city that is very family friendly (love being out and seeing the private security- thank you Bass family). Average drive time is 35 minutes to airport. I always give adjustments for rush hour but coming from SoCal traffic here is laughable.
I would also suggest checking out Flexjet. If you don't live here they will pay 4k to help with your move.
Wine tasting in Grapevine, roaming the Stockyards with a beer or just kicking back at the Saucer in Ft. Worth, can it get any better? Think of all that is within a short drive. My wife and I are meeting our friends from San Antonio in the Hill Country this weekend.
All the best with your search
Cheers- Rum

Thanks rumrnr78. I haven't really considered Flex because I don't know anyone who works there. I've got buddies or friends of buddies at almost everywhere, but not Flex. I don't have any clue as to QOL, pay (outside airline central), work rules, enviroment, etc. I assume you work there with the 300 series type.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

I like the Highland Park area near DAL. Seems like the nicest part of Dallas that I have seen.

Any thoughts on McKinney? The wife has found some houses up their she likes.
It looks like 30 miles on US75 to Love. Seems like everytime I go by 75 it's moving about 25 mph.

Red Bird is south of DAL isn't it?

Red bird is south. It's on 67.

tollway/central south to 35 go south, take the right exit for 67 after 5 or so miles. Google earth that beatch.

I live in Keller, almost bought in flower mound.... Both are great places to live. Keller isn't so bad to DAL- either 114, or 183, about 40mins.... Flower mound is definately a better drive & closer to lakes grapevine & lewisville....

You'll find a lot more flying at DAL & ADS than you will on the Ft. Worth side of town....
