I was a CFI for 6 years but it has not been current or its been expired for 20 years. I have an ATP for MEL and a buddy of mine says I can flight instruct in MEL airplanes. Don't know if this is true or not.

I may be interested in some instructing again. Do I have to do the whole practical test again or can I take a refresher for SEL planes. Or can I instruct with my ATP in SEL land airplanes.

Thanks for any comments.

You'll need to take a complete practical test again to do any instructing, single, multi, blimps, whatever. Your ATP permits you to act as instructor under a limited set of circumstances, i.e. a "company" instructor, 135 or 121, but not out giving lessons at the local FBO. See 61.167.
