I am a CFII/MEI without a tail wheel sign off. Is it posssible for me to give a BFR to an Extra-300 pilot in his plane without having a tail wheel sign off? 61.56 (c) 1 says " accomplished a flight review given in an aircraft for which that pilot is rated by an authorized instructor". So the way I see it, as long as the pilot is rated for that aircraft he can use any instructor. Am I wrong??
 
Yes. The tailwheel endorsement is required to act as PIC. So long as the pilot is acting as PIC, then you're legal.

Of course, no statement that something is legal can go without taking safety into consideration. My general rule is that, unless I know the pilot, his airplane, and his flying already, I won't give a flight review in an airplane that I can't fly, whether by regulation, inexperience, or insurance requirement.

I this guy flys his extra-300 as a hobby and goes up about 3 times a week. His flying would spin circles around me, so i trust him. I just wanted to know it if was legal, so thank you.
 
Unless of course the other pilot's BFR has expired in which case neither of you can act as PIC.

NOw here's a good question... would he be required to meet the 3 take offs and landings to a full stop requirement for carrying passengers... IE would the CFI be considered a passenger? Food for thought....

Anyone in the airplane who is not a crewmember is a passenger. The CFI is a passenger. The pilot must be current for carrying passengers.
