Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood on air traffic controllers falling asleep at the switch.

"I guarantee the flying public we will not sleep until we can guarantee that there's good safety in the control towers when these planes are coming in and out of airports," LaHood told ABC's "World News."

Why havn't the controllers learned yet that the correct response is "I wasn't sleeping, I was using my computer and having a discussion,(with myself)" and missed the calls.......

So, apparently, controllers on break may eat, watch TV, play games, go have a smoke - ANYTHING but do what is scientifically proven to improve short-term cognitive ability - sleep.

LaHood totally threw the controllers under the bus even though he ignored the NTSB report from two years ago which recommended that the flip flop shifts stop.
