Have an interview coming up with USAIR and also a guard unit. IF I get the job with USAIR and the guard slot chances are I'll be going on mil leave for training for 3 years while still on probation. My question is will I still be able to keep my seniority at USAIR or will I have to give it up and start over when I come back?

There is no good reason to mention you may be joining a guard or reserve unit, but if you ever get orders then... Then... Then you can be gone five years, the company will immediately accept the orders and place you on mil leave. You will retain your seniority and the company will make contributions to your 401k as if you we're still working. Any profit sharing bonuses will depend on how the union decides to distribute them to pilots on any kind of leave status, ie disability, family medical, mil, etc. Mil leave rocks.

You will be building both seniority and longevity while you are gone....And, when you return you will get a deposit to your defined benifit plan based on what you can hold at min guarantee. no brainer. Have fun on mil leave...hopefully we will be AA by the time you get back.
