Read it within 24 hours. Current bases as of June 1st: IAH, EWR, CLE, ONT SAT, LAX,
Heck yeah, and congratulations to "the Jim's"

I am with you waterygrave. It's funny how we cried over chq "taking" the flying in iah, but now we're "taking" flying from asa, et al, and you guys are rejoycing over it. Unfreakinbelievable!

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the company has gone out and found homes for the jets that we decided to take back, but it's at the expense of yet another alpa carrier.

Guess I'll never get it.

gotta love those XR's

not good

I hate to see us get any flying over our brothers whilst they wallow in ********************e.
Maybe the branded stuff will take off and asa can get back what DAL took away. I for one am NOT chest beating over this.

It sucks that ASA is losing the LAX flying, however in this situation its a company with better work rules and pay that is going to be doing it. I dont know the details about what we will be doing out of LAX but if its mostly Mexico it may just be that we have a pretty good operation and experience down in Mexico. Also wasn't ASA using 70 seaters? If so maybe that was to much plane for the runs. I dont know. Those that know, How are the loads? Sorry to those ASA folks that are mixed up in this mess, all i can say is hopefully buy us coming in we can raise the "Bar" in some way. This is however very good news for XJT. The difference mainly i think is that no one at ASA is at risk for losing their jobs over this. A lot of XJT folks were at risk. Take care.

ASA is only using 700s for MZT and ZLO as well as LAS. The 200 is doing the rest: SFO, SJC, SMF, PSP (nap), some LAS, and the rest of the Mexican destinations.

I've only done 1 trip out west and the SFO and SMF flights were full, the mexican flights had 15-30 pax.

Honestly, who knows the rime or reason. Only thing i can think of is that we have a huge presence in Mexico and good stats to follow and DAL found that apealing. Or they just wanted another carrier in the pie. Who knows!!

Take Care

I, sir, for one, never "cried" about chq taking the flying in IAH. I'm not happy about the situation, but it doesn't imply that you've see me complaining here, so please don't lump me into the cry-baby category that you have created. Maybe my understanding is wrong, but ASA will have homes for the aircraft being pulled from LAX. As Superpilot said, some of our jobs are on the line if there aren't homes for our planes. If I want to be glad about that, I think it's appropriate that I'm allowed some happiness. If you think I'm wrong, than you can excuse my sense of entitlement.

The bottom line is that as far as we, the pilots, regardless of who we fly for, don't make the decisions. We shouldn't be pissed at other pilots when someone takes our flying and we shouldn't gloat to others when we win flying from other pilots. Until ALPA realizes that they need to unify the MEC's across the industry and all of us have common goals when we negotiate contracts we are never going to get back what we have lost wether its at the regional level or the major level. Obviously some regionals have improved while others haven't. Some will suffer through the transition in policy while others will survive and grow but that's business. And ours is a ********************ty business.

Tell me again how any pilot has control over this??? We are blue collar workers, we just wear white collars to make us feel better (jetblue got this one right)... nothing more, nothing less.

The ASA-holes we're always running late, always. They have an abundance of middle mngmt positions so that fcuks everything up.

Get a clue dude! The difference between us and what other airlines have done is that we ARE NOT lowering the bar to get this flying. This should be seen as exciting and hope for all bottom feeders that you don't have to bend over to keep your flying.

But then again I wouldn't expect that insight from you.

Ding ding ding. I have absolutely zero heartburn with XJT getting this flying. They took no pay cuts/contract extensions/"aces" for Brad to get this flying. Additionally, they will bring up the oft-touted "DCI average" that is held over our heads every day. From what I've seen the XJT guys are, for the most part, a class act. We lost the flying due to our mismanagement's lack of ability, not because of the XJT pilots.

Having said that, I wasn't LAX based and I've been in ATL since the day I got here. I think the DFW to SLC to LAX to ATL guys who have been bounced around this country for the past few years are naturally going to be pissed at someone. Hopefully their anger will be appropriately directed towards our idiot management.

I think ALPA National (and all MEC's too) have already realized this fact.

I agree Neal I know they have. But now is taking that realization and turning it into action which is harder than it sounds. It looks like there is some ground being covered though. How are things at CAL?

One good deed by XJT will only be F'D up by CHQ and Mesa they'll screw you and all of us everytime.

Express Jet did not "raise the bar" They only reason they got the flying is because Coex management is doing the LAX flying for cost. Meaning it is better for them to get cost.. (crew, gas, aircraft) than have the airplane sit on the back side of some outstation ramp... COEX is screwed unless they find somewhere to put their extra airplanes... better to operate it for cost out of LAX than have them collect dust in a graveyard...

Bottom line.... the contract was undercut..

You can't poss. knwo this. I understand your frustration. I have been there more than once. Bottom line is you know nothing about the business practices of ASA let alone XJT.

10 aircraft were not going to kill us either way. As an aside, ASA is not known for running the kind of operation that XJT has for so long enjoyed. I doubt the numbers meant all that much to DAL but they could not have hurt.
