Hell, I think the turkeys are awesome. Ok, the cookies sucked, but most companies don't even give something for Thanksgiving. Ok, you might get or go to a party.
I think it is pretty good that I get a free turkey and oh yes, I do give it to the homeless shelter for someone that really needs it.
If you don't want it, do something good for someone and quit being grinch, give it to someone that is less fortunate.
Amen to what joe says about you guys don't have to stay at ASA. You don't and no one is keeping you here. You don't like it,,,,,, GET OUT

QUOTE=JoeMerchant;1455699]Why didn't you just leave then if it wasn't what you were expecting to get? Nobody is holding a gun to your head or anyone elses.... Quit flapping your gums man....do something about it.....

The turkeys are a nice gesture and better than anything we used to get.... Skywest has made some improvements and I believe they will continue to make more..... Some of you however will never be happy....[/QUOTE]

Step 1: Grab a hold of the pole.

Step 2: Pull at a downward 45 degree angle hard enough to remove the pole from you’re a$$.

Come on Joe - I was being sarcastic. Poking a little fun. Lighten up. By the way here is a quick look of the “improvements” over the last few years.

JA's letter to the pilots May 18, 2000

Dear SkyWest pilots,
In the past eight months we have been working with SAPA to make improvements to your policy manual in the non-compensation and quality of life areas. Many issues have been solved in these areas and it is now time to move on to the compensation and benefit issues….

The 18 Month TA dated July 1, 2003 through December 31,2004 - SAPA President CA…
…. SAPA intends to at least maintain pilots' current position, and reserve the ability to address these rates should the industry recover. This TA represents a flexible compromise, which will benefit both pilot and company. It provides enough time and data for Management to establish start-up costs for new aircraft, and a short enough window to ensure fair initial compensation for all potential aircraft….
Under this TA, if Sky West should see larger aircraft on the property, we will be able to reassess the industry and our situation at the end of only 18-months….

SAPA President DL’s pay letter to BH ~2004

Dear BH,
I am writing to you in my capacity as President of The SkyWest Airlines Pilot's Association (SAPA) regarding the pay scale that SAPA proposes to become effective January 1, 2005 (The end of the 18 months!)….
….Further, the submitted pay scales reflect year over year percentage increases of 2.5%, 3.0% and 3.5% in order to keep them at the top of the industry during the term of the agreement….
….Again, this "blended" rate concept will provide compensation to the pilot group based upon the increased productivity achieved by operation of the higher capacity aircraft…..
…. With regard to the pay scale for the EMB-120 aircraft, SAPA proposes a percentage increase of 4.7% to account for the increase in the cost of living since the current pay scales were adopted in June, 2002. This scale also reflects year over year percentage increases of 2.5%, 3.0% and 3.5% in order to keep it at the top of the industry during the term of the agreement.
…. SAPA proposes the elimination of the rates contained in the current SP, 100-159 Seat Jet Hourly Pay Rates. SAPA proposes to negotiate separately the rate for any aircraft larger than those currently operated by SkyWest Airlines….
… Prior to the time this pilot group approved by a majority vote the pay scales that are currently in effect, our Chief Financial Officer publicly wrote, "just deal Captain H an ace or two for this hand (the then proposed and now effective pay scales) and you won't regret it."
SAPA notes the continued profitability of the company as announced on July 21, 2004. SAPA is gratified and encouraged by the results our management team has achieved with the help of this pilot group and all employee groups of SkyWest Airlines. We look forward to sharing in the profitability of this company and continuing to make the labor force contributions of time, effort, training and professionalism in order to ensure our success and achieve our common goals of making SkyWest a great employer, a great airline and a great investment.

President DA's pay TA letter dated September 19, 2005…
… • Reclassification of Pay Scales
In response to feedback from our pilots indicating that pay scales should not be defined by seating ranges, SAPA proposed a reclassification of pay scales. The company has agreed to eliminate the 50-99 seat scale and replace it with a CL-65 scale; to eliminate the Turboprop scale and replace it with an EMB-120 scale; and to eliminate the 100-149 seat scale….
….. Many of you have indicated that you prefer a larger increase in base rates, as opposed to participation in the incentive plans. In response, we extended the pay talks to explore every feasible way to increase base rates. After considering several proposals from us, management has agreed to an across-the-board increase of 1.2% for all pilots, in addition to our continued participation in the incentive plans….

Survey after failed pay proposal vote
… Your representatives were prepared for this possibility, and opened a survey as soon as the pay vote closed. The results of the survey are as follows:
Q.1 - What is the primary reason that you did not vote for this proposal, or you feel was responsible for the rejection of this proposal?

Rate increase is not sufficient. 34.0%
Pay scales should include only aircraft in the current fleet (i.e. CRJ-200/700); or 70-seat aircraft should pay more than the current 200 rates. 32.6%
The proposal does not have an amendable date. 20.0%
Work rule improvements were not sufficient. 7.4%

June 1, 2006
Fellow SkyWest Pilots,
During our May meeting in Colorado Springs, I reported to your Representatives that there has been no recent progress in pay negotiations. When we last attempted to discuss pay with BH, he let us know that the company will not consider pay proposals at this time. Accordingly, it is the consensus of your Representatives that we inform you that we are shifting our focus from pay negotiations, to working toward quality-of-life improvements. The reason given is the need to keep SkyWest’s costs low, so we can remain competitive to attract new flying and retain the contracts we have with Delta and United. (Don’t try to really negotiate SAPA, just lie down!)

November 14, 2006
Fellow SkyWest Pilots…The pay proposal provides for a base jet rate and a base turboprop rate effective January 1, 2007. The base jet rate will be our current 50-99 seat scale, plus 1%, and will apply to the 40-59 seat jets. The base turboprop rate will be our current turboprop scale…. The proposed term is four years, ending on December 31, 2010.(THAT’S 1% FOR 4 YEARS, NOT 1% EACH YEAR)
….All CRJ-200 flying will be paid at the base jet rate. Credit time for the CRJ-700/900 will be adjusted by using the Block Hour Override (BHO) that will result in a 5% increase in 2007, 6% in 2008, 7% in 2009 and 8% in 2010.
…. "The 6%, 7% and 8% Block Hour Overrides represent 1% increases each year."(1% of $60.00 = 60 cents a year, 1% of $34.00 = 34 cents a year, and 1% of $19.25 = 19.25 cents a year)

Remember, that pesky inflation rises an average of 3% a year!

Look at the timeline, the number of things proposed, the number of things “agreed to”, the pay proposal in 05’ that actually was fleet wide, all pilots - raise of 1.2%, look at the reasons it was voted down, look at the subsequent pay proposal of 1% for 4 years with even the 70/90 rates equaling 1% a year after the first bump. No wonder why we approved that pay package. It keeps getting worse, might as well get what we can when we can. If we had actually stood up to management any longer we might have “negotiated” for .5%! So, while the turkeys are a nice gesture, I would prefer that other issues that affect our lives be addressed.

Spend $50 or more on groceries at any chain grocery store, and they will usually give you a free Turkey! AND/OR work for $19 per hour for your first year, and you, too, can get a free Turkey! That should be included in the new hire package.

Definition of Tradition:

1 : an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (as a religious practice or a social custom.

Definition of Customary:

1 : based on or established by custom</I> </I>
2 : commonly practiced, used, or observed</I>

This can only be a tradition, if it occurs 3 or more years in a row. For now, it is only a REPEAT CIRCUMSTANCE!

TRADEEESHUN, TRADEEESHUN! If I were a RICH MAN........?

The only Traditions are failed VISION STATEMENTS, a revolving door of failed managers, and maintaining the #19 position in the DOT stats--only because, there is no #20! TRADEEESHUN, TRADEEESHUN!

On another note, these coupons must have some value, because according to the administrative assistants, the TURKEY BANDIT has been taking the coupons out of the V-files. This has resulted in the coupons having to be signed for by each employee. It's probably the same low life that takes other people's food out of the frigerator! I heard a new hire complaining that someone had stolen 3 PeanutButter and Jelly Sandwiches out of the fridge the other day. It was probably the work of the TURKEY BANDIT!

Stealing food out of the refrigerator? Now that is definitely a TRADEEESHUN!

Better than,

Jerry Atkin: "You're gonna fly 90 seaters for 50 seat pay, and you're gonna like it."

SkyWest Pilots: "oooooohhhh, okay Mr. Jerry. Can we fly for Brazilia pay instead and get more airplanes? We love you so much, here, unzip your pants....."

Happy Thanksgiving and a Marry Christmas to all at ASA.

Marry? Who is she? New hire. :D I believe "Merry" is the word you're looking for.

As far as the bbq...W M (once ATR fo and last I knew 700 fo) did make bbq for a while. "Papa Smurf" still does, I think he opened a restaurant around Vinings/Marietta area.

I hope you guys at ASA got those free turkeys included in your new TA. Remember, Uncle Jerry can take those away from you any time he feels like it. And it's going to happen, without the protection, its not a matter of if but when.
