Carty already enjoys a 25-30% pilot cost advantage over DAL and UAL. What he really wants is commuter compensation for his mainline . . . . . . . which would render the scope restrictions AMR themselves agreed to in writing, in a legal contract, moot. Carty better put all that high paid CEO smarts to work pronto and figure out how to generate more revenue, because he ain't gonna shake down employees for it.

He doesn't have to. He can slowly reduce mainline operations down to a profitable level.

If the losses get large enough and continue long enough anything is possible.
