I recently heard a story from an Amflight pilot that the Chief Piot (at least when I was there he was. He may have a different title now) landed a plane he was flying at the wrong airport. Supposedly he was going to WJF and actually went to PMD. Anybody want to fill in the blanks on this story?

Refuge...

How much you gonna charge for a full size copy of that metro picture?

I wouldn't think he'd have to pay too much. Only have to give me maybe $100. It is a metro after all, now a 1900, he could prolly sell that pic all day long.:)

I've worked for three airlines, and all three have had pilots do low approaches into the GA airport south of Newburgh, NY.

Gemini's DC10 got as low as ~200 feet, and somebody snapped a picture - it made the front page of the Newburgh paper. The POI had a copy of it the next day in the 10am meeting at GAC.....

I have a bunch of cool photos of AMF planes but this is one of my favorite. I'd love to fly the Metro someday, but I just missed the last cut to Metro school and the next opportunity will probably be a 1900. I've even got some cool photos of the 1900 but it doesn't have the line of the tube.

I have made a print of this photo and the colors did not come out right. I am looking to buy a new monitor with color calibration so my pics come out right. Unfortunately I am still making 99 wages and the computer stores do not take food stamps. When it does happen I will probably print it as a panoramic format like my post here. Depending on how nice of a printer I choose to go with it will be around $40 for a 12x36", which you tube drivers should be able to afford. Its framing something like this that you will have to wait till your second year with the majors to afford.

Definately keep us posted as I am in my 2nd year at a major and would love to buy one. Reminds me of the "Good ole days"!

If I'm not mistaken, it's even at my old base (SLC)...

FedEx Kinko's---They will print a large picture for $10/square foot. Just have it printed on Glossy card stock paper.

The pilot is from SLC now, but the picture was taken at PDX.

This A.E.? Never got a chance to meet you, apparently you left right after I FINALLY made the move from PDX to SLC.

How 'bout having it printed at the local photo store?

Its an old expression from my restaurant days "Sh!t in Sh!t out." If the image is not color corrected the print won't look right, magnified by anything over 4x6" print. A good local lab might be able to possibly do a good job, provided I did not spend my days 175 miles away from the local photo store. The print I had made was done at a professional lab, one of the best in the country. TT my ACP would also like a copy of this photo, but when he saw my print he said "that aint right".

If you don't have a color corrected monitor meaning WYSIWYG 'what you see is what you get', each print will be an experiment, you have to keep tweaking until it looks right. On a CC monitor, you adjust the photo until it looks like you want, send it to the printer and WYSIWYG. Don't worry, I will be flying an extra fun on Saturday, saving up for my new monitor. The good news is by the time I can afford the setup I'd like current toob drivers, will be able to afford the picture and the framing.

Hey J...

I'm glad you're still looking into how to get a better print...I hadn't heard from you in a while about it.... Keep me on the list!

I owe you some royalties...stole the pic for the JC forums...
