What type of equipment does Ameriflight operate out of San Juan? What would be the typical upgrade process look like in San Juan? Is SJU still considered a junior base (i.e. - could I get that right out of training)? Now the biggy: How happy do the SJU crews seem to be?

Thanks in advance!

San Juan

San Juan equipment is a variety of SA227 Metroliners, BE1900s, and a BE99. It's not "junior" unless you get into that one BE-99, and you'll need a fair amount of multi for that to happen. To get into the other types you will need a significant amount of turbine time. They are all flown single pilot and there are a number of UPS routes throughout the islands. As far as pilot happiness...........I think it pretty much stinks. From what I hear, the people that tend to work out the best there are the local SJU pilots who hire in. Mainlanders find San Juan pretty hard to get used to and want out asap. Combine a humid climate with the "islands" mentality and a few interesting personalities and it's nothing short of an adventure!
