Does anyone know anything about American Flyers?
Advertise to do CFI/CFII in 30 days. Do you think this is legit?
Specifcally the branch out of MYF in San Diego.

Legit? Yes. Exhausting? Definitely.

I did the American Flyers CFI Academy in SMO. It was an intense program and requires a great deal of personal motivation. If you're ready to stop enjoying life for a month or so, go for it.

I ran into a girl who I went to school with a couple weeks ago. She is currently enrolled in the program out of DPA. I was drunk when I was talking to her so from what I remember it sounded like she's putting in 8 hour days 6 and possibly 7 days a week. She is the only one enrolled so that's a plus. Everything is being done at her pace and it is all 1 on 1. You figure a month out of your life is not bad at all. I think I am going to go this route as well. It sounds as if it is all about dedication and motivation. When your not at the airport doing ground or flight you will be at home studying and making lesson plans.

I did the CFI acdemy at PMP last year. I thought it was a very good program. The 30 days you are there are VERY intense. Your brain feels like jello at the end. M-F 8am - 5pm classroom in the mornings, sim and practice teaching in the afternoons. There were 4 of us in the class and that made it very enjoyable. We were able to study as a group as well as write our lesson plans as a group. The lesson plans consumed most of our evenings. The first weekend we had the FOI, CFIA written prep class sat. and sun. 8-5 then took the writtens on monday. Weekend 2 was th CFII written prep, test on monday. weekend 3 we finished up the lesson plans. All of your flying is built into this time as well. You only get 10hrs. to do all of this. With the 10 hrs. you have to do the inst. and comm manuevers, the spin flight, and 2 checkrides. I ended up buying 2 extra hours. They tell you when you get there that they are not there to teach you how to fly. You are expected to be proficient when you arrive. They simply evaluate your flying from the right seat, any training needed is extra cost. The bulk of your time spent there is learning the book work and how to teach. They have all your time planned out for you when you get there. They don't waste your time at all. I took my second checkride on the 29th day and was driving home on the 30th day. I felt that everything was exactly as promised.

I would highly suggest looking into Airman Flight School in Norman, OK. One of the best CFI/CFII programs that I have come across to date. Quite a few years ago I researched every accelerated cfi program across the board and was sure glad that I went with Airman, not a walk in the park by any means but the set up is exceptional. John Lair is one of the best ground school instructors that I have ever come across in this industry who knows pretty much everything about everything. The female oil wrastlin" at the Ramada during the week was also a sight to be had, to date I have not come across anything like it.:p They should be able to get you in and out in 2.5 to 3 weeks tops.

I took the program at ISM 2 years ago. Great program, learned more than I ever thought I would, finished with both tickets. I bought an extra 3 hours b/c I got my single commercial there as well. Does anyone know if Omar is still there? That dude knows his stuff. By far the best, most knowledgable instructor I've ever been around. Also, I think Doc from ISM ended up back at Pompano. Is he still there?

JetpilotJay: Did you take either of your checkrides with Muharskey? That guy's a trip.

Omar is still there and continues to give his intense lectures. I think Doc just updates manuals in PMP.

What you been up to?
