Yes Eagle is hiring, the mins are 1500 total and 300 multi or less with an approved university.

And the above posted address and fax was what us recalls were using

They are definetly hiring! She called me tonight and I quote, "we need pilots like yesterday". She seemed nice and wanted me to interview on this coming Monday and if all went well to attend class the following Monday! Yikes!

Can anyone provide an honest, fact based, definitive answer as to which universities are approved?

No, because a list has not been issued. The pilot at AE have not been given this info. All that was given was a cursory email indicated hiring with a fax number to send resumes. I suspect HR themselves don't even know the answer.

Approved Universities

If you have seen Flight Training magazine they have advertisements for some schools in there that say "partner with American Eagle" or something along those lines. One school that comes to mind, seeing it a few times is Tyler school. I think that is the universities that people talk about. But check the latest issue and call them.

Now, another comment on Universities. I think that certain colleges are not approved but since they send interns to Eagle their graduates ( THAT WERE INTERNS) get to apply with 500 and 100. My school is that way ILLINOIS. we dont have a specific agreement with them but since some of us interned we can apply at lower minimums.
As far as the Riddles, Purdues etc. I dont know their deal if all graduates get treated as interns with lower minimums, who knows. Some people from those schools would be better off answering those questions.

Here is how it was when I was there. If you get the interview they will hire you if you do well in the HR, Tech and sim interviews. If you do not have the time or any other qualification they are looking for you will not interview. With that being said we had about 25-30 people interview that day and I know of 3 people that were hired. They used to have real good gouge on the interview and I am sure they have not changed much. As far as the time goes, I was hired w/ 1300/150 a week after graduating from riddle. No bridge program or anything like that, in fact I never even instructed at riddle. I spoke w/ John Mcguigan when he was in charge of this bridge project and I remember him saying that was going to be there major source of pilots in the future. The only two schools I remember him talking about was Purdue and some school in North Dakota. If you school is part of a bridge program I am sure you will know it.
BTW, eagle is a great place to be until you get to the line.
