Anyone have intel on American Aviation in Page, AZ?

I won't use them. I can't get over the aggressiveness and pushiness of their ramp lady to even try them.

We've used Classic Aviation also located on the field (same ramp, same building) long before AA came along.

During the summer months , we're there every other weekend (we keep a boat at Lake Powell).

They're probably the most service oriented ramp crew I've used, and with the extreme competition with AA on the airport, the cheapest fuel in the Western US too.

Chris, behind the desk is one of my favorite FBO ladies. By the second, or third trip there...she knew everyone in the family's name and was sure to greet you at the door, if not on the radio first.

The ramp lady for AA is so aggressive, I don't know whether to be pissed off at her, or feel sorry for her.

When you pull up to the ramp and get out, she starts a bidding war to the point you have to be rude to get rid of her.

(Classic always gives me the lowest price, regardless of what she advertises)

I was offered a scenic pilot job there (seasonal). Wondering what they were like to work for.

I was also concerned about meeting my XC time, if I get most of the seasonal hours, I'll be close to 135 mins, but 250 short of XC. Worth the temporary move and hassle?

That depends. A job doing what? If you don't have VFR 135 minimums, then all you'll be doing there is flight instructing. In a small town where limited student operations exist...and the aircraft are all taken for VFR 135 tour ops in the summer. What job have you been offered?

They offered me a scenic pilot job. As I stated above, I'm concerned about getting close to 1200 and being 250 short on the XC time, along with 50 night short. I can't imagine that I'd be getting any night and/or XC time in doing scenic flights.

Okay...so you do have 135 minimums, then. You said you didn't. What you meant was that you don't have 135 IFR minimums.

At this stage, you lack experience of any significance. If you wind up working a few months and come away with a little more experience, that's going to hurt you how?

What job offers to you have rolling in right now against which to compare your offer from Page? If the answer is none, then what do you care if it doesn't net you cross country experience or whatever else it may be that you're seeking. If you aren't being offered other jobs that will get you that experience, then then it's a mute point.

For the purposes of getting your 135 experience, a cross country will be any flight that lands at a point other than the point of departure, regardless of the distance. If you fly to Monument Valley, or Bullfrog, or Bar 10, or Southrim...you get the idea. It's all cross country experience for the purposes of meeting your IFR 135 minimums later on.

You could be really picky and take no jobs at all...

My first flying job was VFR 135 canyon flying at 500 hours TT. 1000 hours a year PIC for 3 years - most of that in 400 series Twin Cessnas. If you have a chance to do it I'd jump at it.

I was under the assumption that the scenic flights do not land anywhere else, maybe I'm wrong though.
