Coming into ORD today American 870 lost an engine on approach. They landed safely and the crew and controllers both did a great job. Anyone have more info?

Anyone have more info?

Initial investigation indicates an un-contained failure of the 8th-stage Fetzer valve.

Apparently, as a cost-cutting measure, the MX department used Prestone anti-freeze in lieu of Quaker State, canola oil instead of 3-in-1, and unauthorized, generic gauze pads on the ball bearings and all hell broke loose.

Fortunately the FO wasn't flying. They're not trained for that sort of thing.
