Came out about 35 minutes ago on the news.

FORT WORTH, Texas - A federal judge on Wednesday rejected a union group's bid for an injunction to block a labor deal with American Airlines that included layoffs and steep pay cuts. More on the news link...

Why don't all the majors just say f*ck it and fold so all us regionals can take over their flying?
I've got another idea. Let's all cut our own heads off. That way we won't get brain cancer.

Flame-bait is frowned upon on this board. Watch your mouth, sir.

It's not all just bad news for American...

Looks like they are doing the same at DELTA. Soon the bottom end of the Delta seniority pool will be making much less than the top end of the wholly owneds. If they get this reduction from mainline, I would figure they would be going after ASA and Comair next.

"Delta has said it wants to cut pilots' hourly wages by 22 percent, cancel pay raises due over the next year and reduce some benefits. The airline, the nation's third largest, also wants to rescind a 4.5 percent raise the pilots received May 1 and a similar raise due next May."

*uck it

I still say let all the majors fold, and let's take all their flying!

This reminds me of a Christmas party I attended last year. Met a guy that is a Captain for Air Wisconsin, he told me a rumor that they were going to get some of UAL's 737's. He started to drool. I asked what he thought the payrates would be. His response was...I make pretty good money right now.

WTFO!

I wish the Federal Government would revive the CAB...enough of this crap!

Destructive Competition

Hmmmm.... that competition doesn't seem to be too destructive to Alaska, Southwest, ATA, AirTran, JetBlue .... But wait, those airlines were never protected by CAB regulation Coincidence? or does competition breed a more viable company?

CAB?

Lets see when we had the CAB, we had maybe a 1/4 of jobs we have know, and the only people getting major's jobs were military trained fixed wing pilots under 30 years old. And who wants to go back to those days?

Pilotyip,

Don't forget airfare from LAX - JFK was 2500 USD per tix.

Also Fed-ex and UPS would be significantly different is the CAB were still around.

Fed ex would probably still be flying Falcon 20's, or at best Challangers, who knows what UPS would be like, but it probably wouldn't be flying 767's, 747's and such.

If you defend this then you have lots of baggage that comes with it that you also have to defend. Do you REALLY want to go there?

Yeah, like saying it in latin makes it any truer than if you said it in English. Guess what, pal, providing a better product for less cost is the American way. Don't like it? Then take your enlightened a$$ to some place where you will make the same money as a janitor. Your hypocrisy is a little too much for me to stomach.

600 hours and anticipating furlough haha

Welcome to the REAL world, socialist. Out here with airline experience and 600 hours total time, you'll look real pretty with them airline wings pinned to your TGIF vest.

It wasn't destructive competition that doomed the industry, it was overcapcity that was a known factor two years before 9/11 and the airlines kept buying new jets and adding on in the face of it.

Try airline management greed and stupidity. Just like the carmakers in the 70's with their gas hog cars in the face of the fuel crisis and building planned obsolescense in as part of quality control.
