Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know what's going on with American Eagle? American Eagle is sending out a lot of conflicting messages. They've run some ads in major aviation magazines, stating that they were looking for pilots. Unfortunately, the way I chose to go about it was by using AirlineApps.com (really, really sucks). Within 2 mintues of sending my app to AE, I got an auto rejection by email saying I wasn't qualified. That's news to me. I'm not trying to brag but I've got 2250 TT, over 800 multi and over 700 turbine, Part 135 current and a college degree. Also, I spoke with my friend who exceeds AE mins as well and he told me the same thing happened to him. Now before you think this is just due to the holiday slowdown, this happened while ago. At the same time, I spoke with some other friends of mine that just met the mins and were offered interviews and got class dates with AE. Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!

I guess you haven't heard. Eagle has stopped hiring, they were forced to accept a bunch of "flushbacks", as the eagle guys call them. I'm not to sure of the details, but im sure someone who works there can fill you in with better info.

You're probably doing better where you are right now anyhow.

Dreamguy- your times are competetive. The rejection emails are probably being sent automatically because we've stopped hiring. The company hasn't officially said yet if we're still hiring, but it would make sense if we have stopped.

Our "flow-through" agreement with the pilots at American is proving to be a disaster. Just over 100 of our pilots were able to transfer over to AA before the industry downturn, but now the Allied Pilots Association is doing all sorts of creative and illegal things to take as many jobs here as possible for their furloughed pilots. Last I heard, over 600 of them were headed our way!
The agreement guarantees a furloughed AA pilot a jet captain seat, and when they finish training, they bump an Eagle pilot who was waiting to go to AA. That in turn bumps everyone below them, so the resulting chain reaction mean that our number of FOs is growing from former Captains and FOs getting bumped off other equipment. Evidently, between the lack of growth here and the arrival of the Flushbacks, the company doesn't see a need to continue hiring.

It may be just as well for you. This once-strong regional is being mismanaged into the ground, and overall morale here is not very good. We have six year FOs, very little advancement, and more and more of the arrogant Flushbacks to fly with. Many pilots here are actively looking for other employment, and some junior FOs are considering lateral moves to other regionals, since the outlook here seems to be getting worse by the day.

No matter what your dreams of becoming an airline pilot, it's never good to be one of the last pilots hired before hiring is paused. If you are stuck as the most junior pilot in New York City or San Juan, the job will get old very quickly.
