AMC/ACC Blues and Flightsuit rumor

Greetings,
Anybody heard anything about AMC and ACC mandating wearing blues if you're not flying that day? Also, heard that the green flight suits will be going away as well, replaced by some bluish/grey thingie (like the missileers wear).

Peace,
DP

DP,

That's what we did to students in pilot training when they were being clowns. It was to motivate them to try harder. I'm pretty sure AMC and ACC pilots don't need to be motivated to try any harder right now.

Please tell me this is a rumor only.

Yahtz

P.S. I don't mind wearing "blues", but only under one condition: I want to be in the right seat of an new A-320 ;)

I have always found it funny how you get these strange new rules right in the middle of something sllightly more important. We've got guys still fighting OEF & OIF, and AMC's concerned with people wearing Blues on a day-to-day basis. I guess that'll cut down on Line of Sight Scheduling: "Hey, we need to preflight 4 jets for Bravo." "Sorry, no can do, I'm Blues-equipped today." Well, then again, maybe not.
I'm mostly worried about changing colors of the flight suit. It brings the people manning the Death Star to mind. I saw some Space guys (previous post wrong, missileers wear dark blue, not bluish grey) wearing them when I went to SOS (spit), and it just don't look right. Maybe we can get a Guard/Reserve waiver :D

Peace,

hmm

I'd like to see that policy letter... I also thought that the misileers went to OD suits just like aircrew, that was a few years back, we had a misileer at our DET and it pissed him off, and from what I've heard it pissed pilots and other misileers off as well.

DP,

Where's the luv? You didn't even comment on the latest avator...placed just for Aplus9 (don't worry you and he should be in the same SWA class...then you'll understand).

I'm going to make a small business card like a "Get Out of Jail Free Card" ....it will simply say:

"Does Not Apply to Reserve and Guard"

It will have a circle and the slash through the words "Active Duty"...like that symbol Russ spray painted on that Grand Forks jet when he freaked out at Moron.

I heard AETC was going to do it too. We already have an OSS Squadron doig it at our base. Talk about motivation.........motivation to bail! As for the flight suits, haven't heard that, but the space and missle folks wear a green bag now and get a nice leather jacket too!
Regards,

Yahtz,

Man, I can't concentrate on anything you say (type) now. Its very disconcerting.

How's the right coast treating you?

SWA is great, can't wait for you to get here.

Slug

P.S. Quit the DelRio thing this last week, couldn't handle the double commute and no days off.

Slug,

Good to hear things are well at SWA. Did you meet Pegasus by any chance? Are you out of OAK yet? I'm happy for all the folks who got to class, and look forward to the day they empty the pool and start interviewing again. I'm just hoping for an interview, but I know there are many more deserving folks than me waiting in the same line. Hopefully one day, I'll get to make that annoucement on the PA passing the Grand Canyon. ;)

Did you ever get on at CBM? Sorry to hear you had to quit at DLF, and I hope you can get on with CBM soon if you haven't already. I miss the T-1 and instructing students...I'd have to say teaching in it was the most personally rewarding position I've ever had, but staying wasn't in the cards. It was definetly tough to say goodbye to the friends in the 48th & 43rd.

Charleston is a great town and I'm in a really good unit, but it's tough to be a novice again. Thanks for the encouraging words. If you ever find yourself in CHS, please look me up...

Errors, we make errors

Yahtz,
It didn't dawn on me the first time until after I'd logged off (neither did the fact that I spelled flightsuit with 2 t's like a dumba$$) since I went straight to "reply" mode. I tell ya, it's an attention-getter. Don't fall for the radar calibration test or the cargo compartment air sample, newbie. :D

I knew about the leather jacket, but hadn't realized that Space-ists wore green bags too. Guess being in OK for 2 years before getting out insulated me from those changes. It makes sense, us being an Air and Space Force (more on that on ACSC test #5 Yahtz).

If this ends up being wide-spread, should help Clothing Sales' figures for the next couple of months. My wife remarked that it's a shame I consider a particular uniform as a punishment, rather than a viable alternative. Wearing pajamas to work is addicting!

Peace,
DP

PS - Scary, I was thinking about the YOFAM jet incident this morning. Memories, of the time we used to share......

Seen elsewhere...

11 June 03

SUBJECT: Uniform of the Day (UOD)

1. Effective 1 June 2003, the preferred UOD for AMC is short sleeve blue shirt (with or without tie/tab), or long sleeve blue shirt with tie/tab. The only exemptions to this policy are individuals whose daily duties call for wear of utility uniforms, or who are performing work on 12 hour shifts. Sister service personnel assigned to AMC units will wear the following:

a. Army: Class B (short sleeve green shirt [with or without tie/tab) or long sleeve green shirt with tie/tab).

b. Marine Corps: Service B (long sleeve khaki shirt with tie/tab).

c. Navy: Service Khaki or Winter Blue (E-7 and above); Winter Blue (E-6 and below).

d. Coast Guard: Service Dress Blue Bravo.

2. Operational necessity and common sense may dictate wear of Battle Dress Uniform or equivalents at certain times. During declared contingency operations the UOD will be BDU/flight suit except on the last duty day of the month when any combination blue uniform, or service equivalent, will be worn. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard uniform combinations are seasonal and change at prescribed times during the year.

3. The travel uniform required when traveling in CONUS is long or short sleeve blue uniform with tie/tie tab, or service equivalent.

4. During both normal and contingency periods, Directors and Commanders are encouraged to require blue uniform combinations for individuals participating in ceremonial events, such as promotion, award ceremonies, or special observances where this attire is more appropriate.
