Want to know what it is like in an ambush? Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! is the only thing that comes to mind.

This is what our foreign diplomats and military live with. I think these guys were extremely cool under the condition.

Why you wanna talk sh*t?

All I was saying was 'oorah to those guys. They did what was needed, and made it out of the ambush. We don't need the commentary from the peanut gallery jet boy...try fighting on the ground sometime. Majority of you guys who talk sh*t wouldn't dream of saying anything outside of this forum, 'cause you got no sack. More power to those guys on the ground.

These squabbles should not be happening, it is most disturbing to me. I am speaking from experience when I say, when shells are falling there are no politics, your body goes into automatic mode and instinct/training take over. The experience, although obviously dangerous, is quite exillerating and exciting at the moment. It is not uncommon to hear expressions of excitement and joy at these times and statements of political origin are impressed on the incident only after the fact. These guys were excited and displayed a healthy amount of fear that served them well in such a situation.

My objective by presenting this clip was to express the utter degree of political conflict in such an apparent peaceful, beautiful and civilized law biding setting. This stuff goes on everywhere and most is never reported through the media. Your comments either pro or con referring to political policy will never stop this type of warfare and serves only to wedge further our ability to cooperate with each other.

Have empathy for those who serve but do not snipe at each other here at HOME.

no one has cornered the market on incoming...

Hey, I said 'Ooorah to those guys and get a pol. comment. I've been on the receiving end of incoming myself...felt the same as those guys in the clip. I know what it's all about...

F*ck the politics, this is war. Hey Thomas, I sent you a PM about trying to get back in the sh*t only flying this time. Can you PM me some info about flying rotors? What the Army is looking for, etc?

OK, both points well taken. Please recognize that both of you expressed emotions of equal intensity but with opposite evaluation. The valid points from both are the same, it is the emotional interjection that becomes the fighting focus of your discourse. Emotions fade but fact remains which makes you both realy fighting over factual issues you both agree on.

To me there is something crazy about that; and to take it further these fanatics engaged in war are fighting and dieing over these same issues. OK, cutting off peoples heads and murdering women who enjoy personal attention is archaic but there was a time in history when such practices were legal and expected. We have become civilized and now fight against those values. Lets not lose sight that we all have experiences and express feelings about them in different ways.
Fight over the facts, not over the expression.

Stirring or smoking???

So none of you guy's are pissed at Bush?

The fact that those guy's are there for no reason, the fact that we attacked a country who has no weapons of mass destruction, no plans to attack the US, and we are losing men and women daily? OOOHRAH!

Well I guess I'm stirring the pot!

Be Safe to those out there!!!!

Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator that has used chemical weapons against his enemies, attacked his neighboring countries, supported terrorist groups, and for over 30 years committed every know attrocity against his own people. I guess that is not a good enough reason to be over there.

I was over there in the first Gulf War and may be sent over there again for this one. I believed we needed to go then and I believe we should be there now.

Put your blinders on and bury your head in the sand because anything that happens outside of the US is none of our business, right? The last time we (as a nation) did that was the years prior to Pearl Harbor. And look how well that turned out.

Believe it or not, there is a cost for our freedom and prosperity. And sometimes that cost is high.

What do you know about Halliburton Industries(oil industry), with Iraq that Cheney was CEO of in 2000? Why do you think we are there? Because Sadaam kills his own people? OK!

Well, FINE let him! Why are we involved, how does that give us freedom, what right do we have to invade other countries?

Your blinders have been on since you said oohrah!!!

You are fed lines about politics and freedom to make you hate other countries for what they do...............Look what we do, invade a country who didn't even hate us!!! (Bush SR. is in pics shaking hands with Sadaam, why........OIL)

I really feel bad for those of you there or going (sarka-hopefully not), to this battle of supremecy!

Good luck.

I really don't like getting into these debates so I will just say my first reaction and then be done. I will never change your mind or anyone elses. You believe what you believe and rightly so. However, the fact is that we are there for a reason, they used WMD on their own people and they did, and still do, have plans to attack the U.S.; perhaps not by direct afront but rather through insurgents, and we ARE losing men and women but I believe we would be losing much more without bringing the battle to the enemy.

The Taliban/Al Qiada and other terror organizations interlinked by cooperation have shown a steady history of increased aggression around the world. At some point someone was going to have to do something. That point is now. You or I did not set that point our political leaders did, but regardless of our feelings it has to be done; better sooner than later.

The United States is an aggressive nation, it always has been and probably always will be as long as we are a nation. Without people like yourself dedicated to remind others of a more peaceful side to our American heritage we might very well fight ourselves into chaos. At some POINT others will begin to listen and the fighting will stop. But I don't believe that will happen for many years.

I am pissed at Bush but not for reasons brought out by a war. His domestic policies, or lack of, are going to strangle the life out of many of our citizens needlessly. Many in this country will suffer and die early deaths brought on by neglect from our political leaders hungry for power and control. Many more will suffer from neglect here in this country than will ever suffer from any front page war.

That is all I have to say. :(

Hey ThomasR, I respect your post, you did not attack nor did you insult me for my opinion!

I was just asking a question...........I was not attacking either, I appreciate what you said and it's something to think about!

The folks in the middle east fighting for our President are very brave and probably scared people! I respect them as well. I feel for their parents too. But why Iraq, why not go after the Isralies? They killed one of our "reporting" camera men when he was waving the "white" flag!

Maybe we just all hear different sides of the story, but I'm also a person who believes that there is two sides.

Take care!

And BTW............I agree with your last paragraph comepletely!!!

Do you really think we went to war with Iraq for the oil? I can see it now...CHENEY: "Hey, G.W. Can we invade Iraq because I used to be CEO of an oil company and could really make a killing if we did?" BUSH: "Sure. That would be prudent. Especially since I'm from Texas and Texas is oil country, too! We'll both be rich, rich, rich!"

You know if replace the name Saddam with Hitler your argument really makes a great point. History repeats itself! Idiot!

Yes, I'm just another mindless grunt that is willing to sacrifice my life so idiots like you can spew your dribble.

First of all, I don't HATE any other country. I don't agree with some other countries political LEADERSHIP's views, morals or ethics. But, I do not hate any country. I have been to many beautiful and exotic places (Somolia, Saudie Arabia, Kuwait, Korea, etc...)...met some very interesting, colorful and diverse people....and killed them. Have you EVER been outside of your narrow mind?

Yes. Our troops ARE feeling the love. I have felt that love. All they really need is a big hug.

Ok Sarka.....WHY ARE WE THERE?

Stop your Fodder and at least answer one question intelligently!!!

Sarka, I'm just asking questions............I don't have the inside info you do, maybe you know more, maybe you know less.....BUT, I'm giving you what I know, I'm not knocking you for what you do, and I'm not mocking you for your opinions!!!

GROW UP, and that's the problem kids!!!

People like you never get over the cowboys and indians phase, or the cops and robbers, or the weekend playing paintball with the guy's...........now I'm mocking you.

Now I'm kidding.........but I'm really just trying to find out the truth here with the whole Bush and Iraq deal. Maybe I'm paying too much attention to Michael Moore!!!!

That's probably it!

Yes, I am acting like a child. Thanks for straightening me out. Let's agree to disagree.

I'm still waiting for the one intelligent question???

Sarka,

Here is the question:

Why are we there (Iraq) when there are no longer WMD and they (Iraq) have no plans to attack us, they are not harboring terrorists, and hate the fact that we are there?

I just want an honest answer, from someone who may know more than I do about this!!!!!

I am serious about asking the question however, I may use too many exclamation points to seem like I am not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They NO LONGER have WMD because we forced them to hide them or get rid of them.

Saddam is gone and they no longer have an organized military threat because we took them away from them. So, I would hope that they don't have plans to attack us anymore.

As far as not harboring terrorist, I think that is still yet to be determined.

Some hate the fact that we are there, but many are rejoicing the fact that we are there. But, the feel good success stories are rarely told.

So why are we still there? We are still there because we didn't do it right the first time. We didn't get rid of Saddam when we had a chance in '91 because that was not our mission. Our mission then was to get him out of Kuwait. And we did that. We stopped because we did not have the support from the UN and the world because it wasn't POLITICALLY CORRECT. And that was our biggest mistake. For over ten more years we allowed Saddam to defy the world and continue his brutality.

We didn't support the people who opposed him and tried to rebel against him after the first gulf war. That was our second mistake. We told them we would support them in ousting Saddam and then we didn't back them up and they were slaughtered. Why do you think they mistrust us so much now?

So why are we still there? To support the Iraqi people in their quest for self government, restore order and to rebuild their trust in us again. If we pulled out now, we would be leaving them high and dry, just like the last time. I'm sure I can speak for most of the guys over there and say that they do not want to be over there any longer than we need to, but there is still a job to be done. We need to stay until the Iraqis can govern and protect themselves again.

That is just my opinion.

why USA needs to stay in Iraq????

I don't need to be on the right congressional committee to answer this one. If USA pulls out now, the current weak made up government will be crushed. There will be a warm smoking pile of problems left with many desparate people. The perfect mix for breeding more extreme Muslim terrorists. The current Iraq w/o USA is the ultimate dream of all terrorist leaders right now, this is why they are pushing so hard. It would be a matter of months for an extremely religious party to take over the country right now. USA needs to stay there, and I can only pray they will stick it out long enough, perhaps for several years to come. Same goes for Afghanistan.
