Slow night on FI, so I thought I'd post this meaningless question that I've wondered about.

Approach says information "Delta" is out on the ATIS, and that the altimeter setting is 30.11. You pull up the digital ATIS, and it says the altimeter is 30.10.

Curious as to where Approach gets their altimeter setting from, and is one better to use than the other? I know it's only 10 feet, but for those of us suffering from OCD.

Thanks.

The altimeter at the time of the ATIS recording goes on the recording. Usually aroung 50 minutes past the hour. When tower or approach give winds and pressure it's typically from the repeaters and is current, right now information. Given that if there is a discrepancy between what the ATIS says and what a human says I'd go with the human.

However, if it's WAY off I'd query the human.
