Altas Classes Canceled

I just spoke with a friend of mine in the training department and he told me Atlas canceled the 3 classes they had planned for the first part on next year.

He gave no reason. Although everything is subjet to change.

Here's one for you, UPS senior management said recently that UPS was not finished with aquiring additional freight forwading companies, and there are rumors here of UPS again interested in Polar/Atlas. They are probably most interested in Polar's route authority and the -400s.

I don't think the classes were cancelled. I believe they are on hold because this is the busy season and all of the instructors are out flying. I would look for classes to start up in January.

UPS has always acquired routes, airplanes, ops that were developed on the backs of others including but not limited to pilots. I don't know why it's just the way they do it. And they love flipping the proverbial middle finger to the crew members. There's much history just start with Orion and work your way down.

I don't think you have a valid point as most of the initial cadre of UPS pilots were made up of former contractor pilots.

Well, I just hope everyone makes out alright in whatever merger/acquisitions are in the future. Of course the acquirer always calls all the shots. My only issue is that when an airline becomes an attractive candidate for acquisition, there is often no credit given to the professionalism, dedication, and integrity to the cockpit crewmembers who helped garner the success of the acquired airline and I feel bad about that. It's not just business these are actual dedicated professional individuals who helped those carriers become successful and they often get little or no credit for it.

If you compare them to a Boeing, it is like comparing a Ferrari to a YUGO! The Ferrari of course, is BOEING!! That would be the worst decision the company could EVER MAKE!!!

Starting pay is 74.55 for FO's and FE's. 50 hour guarantee the first year then 62 hrs thereafter. On the hiring side here is the latest from the Atlas site.

Whalerider, you got that right!! Airbus usually has to be covered in mechanics before it will operate somewhat normal!! On the other hand, if you want to have a scenic ride through the tree's, Airbus is the way to go!!
