I don't understand how that proves me wrong. It's a crew environment but the captain has the ultimate authority. That is why we're given and we accept the responsibility.

In the Airnet accident you cited it appears that the F.O. was over his/her head. The captain should recognize that, it's a difficult job. Thats why we get paid so much.

Yesss... thank you Capt. Obvious. PIC = Responsibility. But that has nothing to do with the fact that an F/O can make a mistake that results in a crash even though the PIC started to try to take corrective action.... especial @ low speed @ a low agl...

I don't think Chuck Norris could get out that one.

Wrong! Chuck would've stared the earth down until it cried uncle and retreated from the arriving plane. Then he would roundhouse kick the FO for putting him in such a situation, and proceed to land the plane with the utmost grace.

FWIW I think an honest discussion of the incident is healthy, if only to get us all thinking about how we would handle a similar situation, and what could have been done differently so we don't make the same mistake(s), assuming of course a mistake was made. Thankfully the pilot(s) made it out ok on this one, it could have been much worse.

How the hell are you going to round house kick an F/O in a Lear cockpit? Anyway this thread has gotten side tracked, because there was no PFTing F/O in the first place...

Chuck Norris doesn't use "Just for Men"...

He uses "Just for Chuck Norris"!

...back to our regularly scheduled poo fight...

Glad the dude's ok! You freight dogs be careful out there. As a 6+ year veteran, I can honestly say it's a dangerous and unforgiving business..

Chuck can round house anyone anywhere he wants to.

If the Lear was smart, it would get the f**k out of the way. When Chuck sees a Lear on the ground he checks to make sure he fly isn't down.
