Anybody know if Alpine Air Express ever hires pilots off the street? Just wondering what left-seat pay might be for their 99's or 1900's. I know about their crock-of-$hi# pft program, No Way, but I'm curious if they ever hire from outside the company slave pool. Thanks.
They have an office in the same building I fly out of, and every once in a while I chat with some of their pilots. The guy who flies the 99 here gets 37k/year, for 6 nights of 4.5-6 hour flying. He said some of the other runs (particularly in Montana) pay a little better. I have no clue on the 1900.
Quick edit:
Rumor mill says they have a new run opening up somewhere in Montana. The guy I talked to asked if I wanted a recommendation, so it sounds as though they may be doing outside hiring.
Stay as far away from Alpine as possible. I have personally seen the planes and spoken with crews. They have trashed two airplanes in the past 4 months killing two crew members. The training at Alpine is a joke. If you have a pulse, you will pass. They have no standardization training pilots and maintenance is a joke.
I would look at other 135's like Ameriflight/Airnet.
