WASHINGTON, D.C.---In an effort to clarify it's image and brand the Air Line Pilots Association voted to change it's name to the Air Line Pilots Organization.

You must have stuck your pledge pin in a little too deeply.

but how far do you think you would get without them?

I don't know, how far? I was able to get far enough to be able to afford 1st year pay at an airline after getting the necessary flight time.

In ALPA, as in life:

1. Rank has its privileges

1. By rank I assume you mean seniority. What other parts of your "life" does the day you arrived specify your lot in life? Do you have a nicer home and car than everyone younger than you? Are you admitted into college based on rank?

Unless you are talking about standing in line at the checkout I fail to see the relationship. But seniority is part and parcel of flying for an airline, ALPA is not.

"The company signs your check. The union fills in the amount."

You better call the guys over at Southwest, Skywest and JetBlue and tell them they desperately need ALPA.
