On behalf of all Pinnacle pilots I apologize for Flyer1015's irrational, insensitive, and uneducated remarks towards the Colgan pilot group.

Stand-alone unions don't work with employee groups with such low average income levels and such low numbers of employees. They simply don't have the money to fund their union activities. Only huge carriers with high average incomes, like UPS and AMR, can make independent unions functional.

Trust me, I'm suffering through an independent union right now at my carrier. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. We've been in contract negotiations for 3.5 years, and I don't expect another contract for many years to come.
