ALPA hasn't furloughed anyone. Perhaps you mean the ALPA members on furlough from their airline? Semantics count...

;)

His semantics were correct. They were ALPA furloughs. It's like saying airline pilot as opposed to United Pilot. A united pilot is also an airline pilot. "Any guys furloughed from ALPA get hired?" Would be incorrect.

You guys know the point so....

Well?

When the hiring process began in late 2013, DL had 200+/- pilots on furlough. The data from late in 2013 said 142 had accepted recall and 8 declined (not sure if that means just for now or cut bait forever). There were 168 in a position of having to accept recall "now" or be removed from the seniority list. The PWA allows recall bypass for 10 years from date of furlough. Not sure if this data has changed between then & now.

Don't know about UAL or AA.

Thought so... isn't that supposed to be one of the benefits of a union; taking care of each other?

Didn't realized the union hired and fired.

Case in point:

In late 2009, IBT1224 structured a side letter to their CBA with ABX mgt that all other ATSG sister companies (at that time there was ATI and CCI) must hire, not interview but hire, furloughed ABX pilots before they could hire from the street.

Last year Atlas needed experienced 767 drivers in a hurry. IBT1224 made a deal with mgt to bring in a certain number of furloughed pilots from ATI(ABX 1224 peeps who were hired in 2010 at ATI but now furloughed again from ATI) ahead of the pack for preferential interviews.

Now I know of numerous times when ALPA carriers have said that they would help out furloughed ALPA pilots get interviews with their respective carriers but I have no idea how effective this has been.

The two instances I mentioned above are examples of direct union intervention that had resulted in direct hires.
