Good luck Aloha Bro's.

Regarding ALPA National...does the word facade mean anything to you?

Peace.

you might find it helpful if you had even the slightest inkling of what ALPA Nationals role in all of this is...ALPA National isn't the babysitter. They're not the ones who can call the magic "do over" when it's obvious that the local MEC has royally F'd it's membership.

Show me a unified in-house union...anywhere in history or the world, that is stronger than ALPA.

Right. It doesn't exist. Sorry dude, you're career sucked bad, but that doesn't give you the right to infect an innocent body just because you're convinced that your doh means jack ********************. It doesn't.

Also, it's laughable that you would call ALPA A "Facade" when you wave the flag of the "pre-doomed, whistling past the graveyard" USAPA union buscabters.

.

You might have the wrong thread intended, but if not explain to me how the Aloha MEC 'F'd' his membership?

I'm sure a bunch of ALPA dues paying members over there will be all ears.

Well Sonny, pull up all your Ears because here comes an essential fact that all unions seem to ignore...

This is a business, and YOU are an employee!!!!

You own nothing, you're entitled to nothing more than your union contract, (as long as a bk judge says so)

Again, it might serve you well to understand some basic capitalistic principles...Unions don't run business. Management will always win in an emergency. Aloha ran out of CASH, just like you running out of blood, the body dies. Wall street doesn't care how prompt you've been with your dues payments.

You're a pawn.

Tell me how an in house union would have saved them...I'm sure they're "all ears". Nice try union buster...you'd think you would become accustom to being shot down by now.

I doubt you'll ever learn, your East Coast sense of entitlement will blind you into the unemployment line.

If you want to know why ALPA national is so afraid of illegal work actions, please reference the American Airlines sickout in which the APA, an independent union, was fined $45 million.

Just because ALPA advises you not to go on strike does not mean you have to go to work. They simply have to come out against that type of action for liability purposes.

With that said, good luck to Aloha pilots.

JT8D,

Since you've made it your mission to prove how awful ALPA is USAPA is going to have to do nothing less than cure cancer to prove it's any better. Good luck with that.

Wow.... we all love free market place captialism. With smug mantra's of "Up yours I got mine" and Karl Rove is Kool bumper stickers...

Then when those same beloved market forces put us on the street we suddenly turn into die hard socialist asking "What is ALPA going to do for me"

Your turn.

Wait and see how senior UAL Alpa treats its junior brothers when it comes time for unity and working together to keep from letting guys get furloughed. The rumors floating around are not pretty.

are you saying that would be different if the same people were in charge of an independent union? Seeing what USAPA is trying to do to it's "junior brothers", as they call the West, I will take ALPA's actions over theirs any day.

45 million? daym, that's a load of cash!! How much of the fine did APA end up writing a check to AMR for?

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

Actually, the bitter taste the APA clowns put in the mouths of gov't, managment and the traveling public has cost us all much much more than that 45MM.

Gov't and management have a free pass to stop any type of strike. Gov't and managment have the public support.

This is why ALPA isn't the illegal hard core union everyone wants it to be....

because it doesn't work.

When you are an annoying mosquito (pilots unions) to the economy and you piss them off... all you'll get is dead...

I think they paid no more than $15 million....oh, and the blood of the TWA pilots....but who's counting?

Then a set of "hand signals" has to be devised so when the Lawyers say "Do not strike" *Wink* *Wink* the pilots know to not show up

I hear the SWAPA guys are pretty happy, but maybe they would be much better off if they gave a chunk of their salaries to ALPA.

The recent turmoil in the industry has highlighted the problems with ALPA. Yes, it does a lot of good when it lobbies congress on behalf of the entire industry, but when a particular airline/MEC is in trouble, they are at the mercy of their own MEC's resources, with little or no help from ALPA national.

I'm curious what percentage of each member's dues goes directly to his or her own MEC?

Yeah, the SWAPA guys are pretty happy now. Is that because they work at a company that pays them well, has good management and has not gone bankrupt, or because they are an independent union? You should be asking what percentage of southwest pilots dues goes to ALPA, because SWAPA pays ALPA a large chunk of money for all of their services.

The percentage of your dues your MEC keeps depends on the size of your airline. Most regionals actually recieve more money from ALPA then they send in dues.

Why are the SWAPA guys happy? Because thier union sheilds them from greedy managment, because SWA is losing money but the union still forces the company to pay well?

I am confused... what should ALPA be doing in this turmoil-ed industry...

So if ALPA was SWAPA all would fine and happily ever after...

It seems you lack a basic understanding of how things work in this country.

SWAPA is unique in that it works for a employee centered company. Is that SWAPA's doing or managment....
