Well... this might get some people a little upset, but I've got to say something that has been on my mind for A LONG time. Ever since the tragedies of 9/11 I have heard a lot of sad songs for the police/fire fighters and emergency services personel , and rightfully so... however, why is it that I have never seen a bumper sticker that says "Air Line Pilots Association - Honor Our Fallen Heroes" - ??? These guys were the FIRST victims of the September 11th attacks MURDERED defending the cockpit. I heard a lot of people donating and giving to charities that supported FDNY and NYPD, but never heard of anyone giving to the support funds for the families of Captain Jason Dahl or First Officer Leroy Homer Jr. I keep thinking that although we keep saying that we will "NEVER FORGET" that those 8 pilots and a number of flight attendants HAVE been forgotten. For me as a pilot, the first people I thought of were those pilots and flight attendants who were murdered at work. I'll never forget the moment I saw old # 6212 being flown into that building as I watched on CNN from my dorm room. The fear that my father, or his colleagues had been viciously murdered as they did their jobs is a horrible picture that constantly keeps the memories of those lost crew members before my eyes.
