I've been to www.aviationinterviews.com and see there is no information on the interview process. I know several people here have recently interviewed.

1) Can you brief us on what to expect?

2) Fleet plans, bases, first and second year salaries, benefits, new destinations planned...(been to the Aloha website but would like something in more detail if anyone has the time)

3) For those of you currently in or having just finished training, what do you think? Are you happy with your decision? Why or why not? (sorry to sound like a school teacher here...)

In short, what would you say about the company to someone considering a move? I have a friend who is working on getting an interview, and I volunteered to help with the research since I'm ALWAYS ON FLIGHTINFO.COM!!!

Now, where's that thread about spending too much time on flightinfo...

I bump into the Aloha instructors/pilots when they come to LGB for 737-200
simulator training, will see if I can get some information out of the boys.

if your not locally raised DONT EVEN TRY IT.

Dont mind Mr blo. He is my surfing buddy and went over the falls at Sandys one too many times. I am in a class of 6 this week at AQ. Myself being only one of two locals. Apparently qualified local boys are hard to come by in the airlines.

The current class includes;
An F-15 pilot for HANG.
A BBJ (Boeing Biz Jet) CA
An Island Air CA
A furloughed Delta Wahine
A furloughed United Wahine
And a CRJ FO w/ mostly SIC time that was commuting from HNL-PHX

Good luck getting gouge from an AQ pilot. I couldn't find any before I interviewed. I was asked not to share the questions so I wont. Good luck though. If your friend has a rec he should fare well.

Bases, HNL possibly OAK soon.
Salary $2300/mo to start goes to $4500 2nd yr, goes up a little less than a $1000 every year after that and maxes out for 737-700 CA's make $144,000/yr best I can tell.

Aloha is looking like the smartest airline out there today. They treat employees and customers exceptionally well.

OAK base?!?!?

Tell me more about the possible OAK base. I really like that rumor! Congrats on making the class!

I have to agree with Islandhopper, when we interview at AQ we are asked not to share any info. I dug and dug and dug for gouge and didn't get a scrap. It amazes me there isn't anything out there. What I can say is that it really is a pretty pleasant process all things considered.

Not sure what Mr. Blo means about bein' local. There are a ton of people here that aren't from the islands. A bunch of the mainlanders I know here have been furloughed from the big boys and managed to get hired in the past year.

Best of luck to you!

Do tell about that OAK base. Rumors of mainland base have been floating around for a while. The question is where do you put it? OAK makes sense because it's sort of in the middle of our mainland destinations.

As for commuters, yeah, there are plenty. Most of them fly the -700 or night cargo. Those are the senior guys.

Also, disregard Mr Blo... if you have a recommendation from an Aloha pilot you will be considered.

As for the interview gouge, like AQ PILOT said - we are asked not to share the info, but it was definitely the most pleasant interview I've attended.

Have I made the right choice or not? Well, I've been gunning for Aloha since 1999, and now that I'm here, I couldn't be happier. Interisland guys are home every night - good for family life. Pay could improve and it will. The figures shown by islandhopper are either reserve line 71 hour guarantee or reflect the 10% ATSB paycut, but they don't include overrides (like for -700, 200ER, night cargo, or per diem which is $1.75). Work rules are awesome here. Benefits too. Retirement is one of the best in the industry - A plan (1.8% multiplier), B plan (7% of your pay = company contribution - your contribution is optional), and 401k. We're privately owned, so we make less of a target for corporate raiders like our next door neighbors at Hawaiian, and at other majors who have been ransacked and looted by their management. Ours seems to care about the company and want to see it succeed and turn profit. It seems like our business plan is working as our flights are packed and we're making money. We're hiring and plan to be hiring for the next couple of years at least.

In other words... couldn't be happier.

Hey Freight Dog do you want to trade 737 icons? I think I like yours better. :D Our class was told they are looking at OAK. Reasons include it is the closest mainland base to Hawaii as the birds fly. Say, if the Vancouver flight is hit with a strong winter jet it has to refuel in OAK, if the LAS-BUR-HNL flight is hit with a weight restriction out of BUR they go to OAK to re-fuel and could run into a rest requirement issue if the crew originates in LAS that day. Everything is kind of centering around OAK for AQ. Soon there will be more flights operating on the US West Coast than HI for AQ.

If you really want to get on with AQ try to go to Island Air the Dash 8 operator. I had the chance but choose not to go to Island Air but I wish I had in hindsight. Freight Dog and I once compared notes a few months ago. We both interviewed at Island Air around the same time, he took the job, I stayed at my other job because I thought it was a better ride. Anyway make a long story short, FD got on at AQ a little quicker than me. I think two classes and appx 15 numbers senior to me while I was checking the surf report on the Clarion Airport Milwaukee hotel computer. FD was also gaining longevity at AQ for retirement and vacation. There is another Island Air guy in my class with the same hire date as me but when we retire in the future he will have an extra 2 years to equate into his retirement plans and vacation. A year from now when I get my first two weeks he will get more than two weeks because they use his Island Air hire date for retirement and vacation.

Some of the other guys could tell you more about the pay and work rules, I just took a quick look at it as I am not even ID'd yet and have other more pressing things to study at this point.

So are you paying for pakalolo or do you just grow your own?

Hey Aloha

What is the best way to get your name in the hat. Who do send a resume to? What would you recommend to do, to make one's self stand out?

Thanks in advance

what your not going to style me out anymore?

Only thing I can "style you out" with from my garden would be some Home Grown NM Hatch Chile or some Tahitian Taro leaf for some broke da mouth Lau Lau.

But you probably like your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches more anyway being so quick and easy to fix when you got the munchies and all. Slacker!

Slacker my @ss! You dont even know about WORKING for a living. Sweating in the front of a 73. How about you come to Waimanalo and I show you how to build the Hawaiian style Hale brudda. Eh, maybe after I teach you how for surf on Saturday, I can show you how to make some "broke da mouth Lau Laus" with your own Taro leaf buuddy.

Blo,
Wow, I'm born & raised on the island and have been off a few years at the commuters. I'm trying to get back now. I really want to thank you for reminding me of that great "local aloha sprit". I always loved how hawaii promotes itself as so loving and friendly,,,, as long as you don't leave Waikiki.
Den da kanakas like "What Haole, Like cracks? Go home, you steel da land, u steel aloha, you steel da queen even do u neva know her! Drop in on me and I buss yo face!"
Home Sweet Home Waimanalo!!!!

Joke Bra!
ALOHA
