This was in our VP letter today.

"It's sad to think about the more than 5000 employees whose airline careers were so abruptly ended. Alaska is in the process of sending a letter to the former ALPA-represented Aloha pilots advising that we'll give special consideration to ETOPS qualified pilots in our future pilot hiring and similar consideration to licensed maintenance technicians."

I don't know how many guys we plan on hiring since things have slowed down, not many guys leaving (age 60) and we are reducing the total fleet number by 2, but I did hear interviews to start again in a few months.

I know we are going to do the same for pilots of Aloha, ATA, and Champion. We did offer ATA pilots preferential interviews last time they furloughed resulting in our getting some of their 757-300's. We will do it again when interviews begin.

Why is ETOPS qualified a big deal?

$$

It costs money for 2 days of training to add ETOPS to your qualification. So only ANC does ETOPS and LAX pilots only have Class II nav and raft training because full ETOPS is another half day of training. ANC and LAX have around 200-240 pilots each while SEA has over 1000, you can see the math.

To all Aloha pilots,

I'm extremely sorry for this snake crap nightmare whore called or-in-stain. I hope dearly he will die of ass warts.
Good luck, I hope all majors that service the islands give pref hiring, allowing you to stay at home and not commute.

but I did hear interviews to start again in a few months.

Just talked to a new hire that is about to finish OE and a leaderless executive was in his class stating no new hire classes for 2008.
But just like the weather, things in this business change by the minute!

I had heard the same thing, then I was deadheading a few weeks ago and the CPT, who I can't remember his name, is one of the interview Captains and they told him to be ready to start up again in late June or July.
But I will believe it when I see it.
