OOoooh ok. That makes sense with the colors then. This morning I saw it on my way down Elliot street and was wonderin' if AQ was going to fly charters for the Denver Broncos.

Lovin' the 60s (70s?) colors bird. Saw it was in service this morning. Haven't seen the swanky new F/A getups yet though.

I heard that the Hooters 200's had a spedial modification which allowed the packs run at the coldest setting without icing up...;)
Should work well in the islands.

I thought they were going to have to change from the 200 series aircraft soon?

Nope, Stage II aircraft can still fly in Alaska and Hawaii if grandfathered in. They can fly the 200's until they fall apart. With those leases averaging $20K to $50K per month, its hard to switch over just yet.

Interesting. I guess in my mind I was thinking that those things are so costly with gas and maintenance for those short hops they'd want to get rid of them. But if they're saving a good amount on the leases to outweigh that then oh well. Guess I'd just like to see them modernize a bit. Those -200's are looking ragged.

Does that mean we get free wings now with Aloha F/A dressed in Hooters Tank Tops

Q. How do you know it's a Hooters aircraft?

A. There's red fingerprints all over the cockpit.

those 737-200 are not stage II but stage III. now while the leases may be cheaper than say a -300, the fuel burn of the JT8D's along with the up keep will end up raising the DOC. whether or not an aircraft looks ratty is up to how well they maintain it. you can grab a 737 put a new coat of paint on it, slap in a new interior with plush leather seats, new carpeting, upholstered bulkheads and jazz it up like hooters did....and the age of it becomes irrelevant from a customer standpoint. A -200 with a decent load and with standard conditions up at flight level can stay aloft just a bit over 5 hours and still land with IFR reserves, not as good as an NG or newer....but still not bad for a plane designed a long time ago and intended for short to medium ranges.
