I heard from a good source that Aloha is running a new hire class in July.

Good luck to those trying to get on there. It's good to hear some positive news about Aloha.

They are just going to skip recalling me and go straight to hiring? Oh, wait, what are you saying? Are you saying that I should be expecting a recall letter, say in a week?

Good luck with your hopeful return to Aloha, I'll gladly replace you as a Wal-Mart greeter...

Trash8mofo,

check your PMs....

We still have pilots on the street that have bypassed recall. Before any true "new hires" come through our CP would have to force the guys that bypassed to come back first. THEN AFTER THAT we could interview and hire.

The furloughees that were let go back in December during training ARE INDEED back in training right now... Thats probably what you heard about... Unless you got something else for me I dont know about????

How long after starting would a newhire fly the 700 to the mainland and other Pacific islands? Does it normally take a year or so before you can bid the 700?

after 6 months in the 200 and then only if you can hold it by seniority.

Thanks. Yikes - your avatar is making me dizzzzzzzzzzzzzy.... I would think that the intra-island flying would be popular given that you get home every night. Although I suppose it could become a bit monotonous.... Yeah, but you'd live in paradise (a very expensive paradise that is...).

Only islands we fly the NG700 to are the Hawaiian Islands... Cali and Nevada then thats it. All our international destinations have been axed. hence the furloughees etc..

Does Aloha have the 767s and 717 or is that Hawaiian? I visited Hawaii on vacation this past winter and decided I was going wait for those airlines to start hiring so I could move there. I discussed this with my wife and she figured she could learn to grow pineapple and coffee.

Don't you darn near have to be Hawaiian to get hired there? I realize you don't have to be from Alaska to get hired at Alaska or from the Southwest to be hired at...you get the point.

Fellows,

I have no doubt that Aloha would both hire and furlough in the same month.

This was the latest MEC email...

Fellow Pilots:

In exchange for pay protection, the MEC has allowed the company to utilize
three or four -200 instructors to hold bid lines while performing new-hire
IOE during the 1st week of July.
We believe this is necessary to assure
adequate pilot coverage for the summer. Captains who are forced to fly
reserve due to this relief will be bid-pay protected. In addition, all -200
Captains on the system bid will maintain their status in July.

Thanks, the MEC

English,

Yea, but the "new hire IOE" that they are talking about was those that were hired months ago. Right.....

Ah. So, new hires are those brought on in November 2004?

Now I see why their accounting was always so off.

How long until those poor fellows are furloughed again, you think?

That all depends on our Fall Schedule, which has yet to be hammered out... Are the loads up? down? This company always takes the conservative line.

Cali and Nevada only? Is AQ not flying to YVR anymore? Wish they'd have a daily flight to ANC! I remember seeing them a few times a couple years ago in ANC (believe Hawaiian Vacations chartered those planes though).
